DTC P0500: Vehicle Speed Sensor Malfunction [12/2013 - 11/2016]: Description

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2016 Toyota Highlander, 2015 Toyota Highlander, and 2014 Toyota Highlander. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The dynamic radar cruise control system uses the same vehicle speed signal that is sent to the ECM for the SFI system. If DTC P0500 is detected, perform the diagnosis using the inspection procedure for DTC P0500 in the SFI system.

Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

The speed signal is converted for use by the ECM. Both the SFI system and the dynamic radar cruise control system can set DTC P0500, however, the detection conditions of these systems are different.
