How To Proceed With Troubleshooting [12/2013 - 11/2016]: Procedure

  1. VEHICLE BROUGHT TO WORKSHOP 

    Result: 

    Go to next step 

  2. CUSTOMER PROBLEM ANALYSIS 

    Result: 

    Go to next step 

  3. CONNECT TECHSTREAM TO DLC3* 

    HINT: 

    If the display indicates a communication malfunction, inspect the DLC3.

    When any CAN communication system DTCs are output, perform troubleshooting on the CAN communication system first.

    Result: 

    Go to next step 

  4. CHECK DTC AND FREEZE FRAME DATA* 
    1. Check for DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [12/2013 - 11/2016] 

      Powertrain > Engine > Trouble Codes 

    2. Check for freeze frame data.

      Refer to FREEZE FRAME DATA [12/2013 - 11/2015] 

      Refer to FREEZE FRAME DATA [11/2015 - 11/2016] 

      HINT: 

      Record or print DTCs and freeze frame data if necessary.

    Result: 

    Go to next step 

  5. CLEAR DTC AND FREEZE FRAME DATA* 
    1. Clear the DTCs and freeze frame data.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [12/2013 - 11/2016] 

      Powertrain > Engine > Clear DTCs 

    Result: 

    Go to next step 

  6. CONDUCT VISUAL INSPECTION 

    Result: 

    Go to next step 

  7. SELECT CHECK MODE DIAGNOSIS* 
    1. Switch the ECM from normal mode to check mode.

      Powertrain > Engine > Utility 

      Tester Display
      Check Mode

      HINT: 

      Refer to Check Mode Procedure.

      Refer to CHECK MODE PROCEDURE [12/2013 - 11/2016] 

    Result: 

    Go to next step 

  8. CONFIRM PROBLEM SYMPTOMS 
    1. Confirm problem symptoms.

      HINT: 

      If the engine does not start, first perform the "Check DTC" procedure and "Conduct Basic Inspection" procedure below.

      Result Proceed to
      Malfunction does not occur A
      Malfunction occurs B

    Result:

  9. SIMULATE SYMPTOMS
