DTC P0715: Input / Turbine Speed Sensor Circuit Malfunction; DTC P0717: Input Speed Sensor Circuit No Signal [08/2014 - 11/2016]: Procedure

  1. INSPECT TRANSMISSION REVOLUTION SENSOR (SPEED SENSOR INSTALLATION) 
    1. Remove the valve body assembly.
    2. Make sure that the connector is properly connected, and check the speed sensor installation.

      Refer to INSTALLATION [12/2013 - 11/2016]

      OK

      The installation bolts are tightened properly and there is no clearance between the sensor and valve body assembly.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:  2

    NG 

    REPLACE TRANSMISSION REVOLUTION SENSOR. Refer to  COMPONENTS [12/2013 - 11/2016] 

    Result:  1

    OK

  2. INSPECT TRANSMISSION WIRE 
    1. Remove the TCM.

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Transmission Wire)
      *b TCM side
      *c Sensor side - -
    2. Disconnect the speed sensor connector from the transmission wire.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 (NTB) sensor side - 1 (NTB) TCM side Always Below 1 Ω
      2 (NTO) sensor side - 2 (NTO) TCM side Always Below 1 Ω
      1 (NTB) sensor side - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
      2 (NTO) sensor side - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:  2

    NG 

    REPLACE TRANSMISSION WIRE. Refer to  COMPONENTS [12/2013 - 11/2016] 

    Result:  1

    OK

  3. REPLACE TRANSMISSION REVOLUTION SENSOR 

    Refer to COMPONENTS [12/2013 - 11/2016]

    Result

    Proceed to
    NEXT

    Result:  1

  4. CHECK IF DTC OUTPUT RECURS (SEE IF DTC P0715 AND/OR P0717 OUTPUT AGAIN) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Start the engine and turn the Techstream on.
    3. Clear the DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [12/2013 - 11/2016]

      Powertrain > ECT > Clear DTCs 

      HINT: 

      Write down the currently output DTCs before clearing them.

    4. Perform the monitor drive pattern.

      Refer to MONITOR DRIVE PATTERN [12/2013 - 11/2016]

    5. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / ECT / Trouble Codes.

      Powertrain > ECT > Trouble Codes 

    6. Read the DTCs using the Techstream.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Only DTC P0715 or P0717 is output A
      DTCs are not output B

    Result:  1

    REPLACE TCM. Refer to  COMPONENTS [12/2013 - 11/2016]
