DTC P0705: Transmission Range Sensor Circuit Malfunction (PRNDL Input) [12/2013 - 11/2016]: Procedure

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY - PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH) 
    1. Disconnect the park/neutral position switch assembly connector.

      (to Park/Neutral Position Switch Assembly)
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C14-1 (RB) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:  2

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result:  1

    OK

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (OUTPUT SIGNAL) 
    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

      (to Park/Neutral Position Switch Assembly)
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C14-4 (B) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:  2

    NG

  3. INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the park/neutral position switch assembly connector.

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Park/Neutral Position Switch Assembly)
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below when the shift lever is moved to each position.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C14-4 (B) - C14-9 (L) Shift lever in P or N Below 1 Ω
      Shift lever not in P or N 10 kΩ or higher
      C14-1 (RB) - C14-2 (RL) Shift lever in R Below 1 Ω
      Shift lever not in R 10 kΩ or higher
      C14-1 (RB) - C14-7 (DL) Shift lever in D, S, "+" or "-" Below 1 Ω
      Shift lever not in D, S, "+" or "-" 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:  2

    NG 

    REPLACE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS [12/2013 - 11/2016] 

    Result:  1

    OK

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH - TCM) 
    1. Connect the park/neutral position switch assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the TCM connectors.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below when the shift lever is moved to each position.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C3-15 (R) - Body ground Shift lever in R 11 to 14 V*
      Shift lever not in R Below 1 V
      C3-16 (D) - Body ground Shift lever in D, S, "+" or "-" 11 to 14 V
      Shift lever not in D, S, "+" or "-" Below 1 V

      HINT: 

      *: The voltage will drop slightly due to lighting up of the back up light.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:  1

    OK 

    REPLACE TCM. Refer to  COMPONENTS [12/2013 - 11/2016] 

    Result:  2

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH - TCM) 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.
    2. Disconnect the TCM connector.
    3. Disconnect the park/neutral position switch assembly connector.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C14-4 (B) - C3-11 (NSW) Always Below 1 Ω

      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C14-4 (B) or C3-11 (NSW) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:  1

    OK 

    REPLACE TCM. Refer to  COMPONENTS [12/2013 - 11/2016] 

    Result:  2

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
