DTC P0705: Transmission Range Sensor Circuit (PRNDL Input) [12/2013 - 11/2016]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (NEUTRAL POSITION SW SIGNAL AND SHIFT SW STATUS) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / AT / Neutral Position SW Signal and Shift SW Status (R, P, N and D Range).

      Powertrain > Engine > Data List 

      Tester Display
      Neutral Position SW Signal
      Shift SW Status (P Range)
      Shift SW Status (R Range)
      Shift SW Status (N Range)
      Shift SW Status (D Range)
    5. Read the values displayed on the Techstream.

      OK

      Techstream Display Shift Lever Position Specified Condition
      Neutral Position SW Signal P or N ON
      Except P or N OFF
      Shift SW Status (R Range) R ON
      Except R OFF
      Shift SW Status (P Range) P ON
      Except P OFF
      Shift SW Status (N Range) N ON
      Except N OFF
      Shift SW Status (D Range) D or S ON
      Except D or S OFF
      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG

  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (SPORTS MODE SELECTION SW) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / AT / Sports Mode Selection SW.

      Powertrain > Engine > Data List 

      Tester Display
      Sports Mode Selection SW
    5. Read the values displayed on the Techstream.

      OK

      Techstream Display Shift Lever Position Specified Condition
      Sports Mode Selection SW S ON
      Except S OFF
      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS.

  3. INSPECT TRANSMISSION FLOOR SHIFT ASSEMBLY (TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH) 
    1. Inspect the transmission control switch.

      for U660E: Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

      for U660F: Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE TRANSMISSION FLOOR SHIFT ASSEMBLY (TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH) 

    for U660E: Refer to REMOVAL [12/2013 - 11/2016]

    for U660F: Refer to REMOVAL [12/2013 - 11/2016]

    Result: 

    OK

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH)

    (to ECM)
    1. Disconnect the ECM connector.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Shift Lever Position Condition Specified Condition
      A43-37 (S) - Body ground S Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
      Not in S Ignition switch ON 0 to 1.5 V
      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE ECM. 

    Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2013 - 11/2016] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  5. CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE (POWER SOURCE OF PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY)

    (to Park/Neutral Position Switch Assembly)
    1. Disconnect the park/neutral position switch assembly connector.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C14-1 (RB) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY - BATTERY) 

    Result: 

    OK

  6. INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Inspect the park/neutral position switch assembly.

      for U660E: Refer to INSPECTION [12/2013 - 11/2016]

      for U660F: Refer to INSPECTION [12/2013 - 11/2016]

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY 

    for U660E: Refer to REMOVAL [12/2013 - 11/2016]

    for U660F: Refer to REMOVAL [12/2013 - 11/2016]

    Result: 

    OK

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the park/neutral position switch assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.
    3. Disconnect the TCM connector.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C14-7 (DL) - C1-69 (D) Always Below 1 Ω
      C14-8 (NL) - C1-71 (N) Always Below 1 Ω
      C14-2 (RL) - C1-68 (R) Always Below 1 Ω
      C14-3 (PL) - C1-70 (P) Always Below 1 Ω
      C14-4 (B) - C1-65 (NSW) Always Below 1 Ω
      C14-7 (DL) or C1-69 (D) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      C14-8 (NL) or C1-71 (N) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      C14-2 (RL) or C1-68 (R) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      C14-3 (PL) or C1-70 (P) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      C14-4 (B) or C1-65 (NSW) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
