Removal [12/2013 - 11/2016]: Procedure

  1. REMOVE FLYWHEEL HOUSING UNDER COVER 

    Refer to REMOVAL [12/2013 - 11/2016]

  2. REMOVE DRIVE PLATE AND TORQUE CONVERTER ASSEMBLY SETTING BOLT 
    1. Turn the crankshaft to gain access to the removable locations of the 6 drive plate and torque converter assembly setting bolts and remove each drive plate and torque converter assembly setting bolt while holding the crankshaft pulley bolt with a wrench.

      HINT: 

      There will be one black colored bolt.

  3. REMOVE ENGINE ASSEMBLY WITH TRANSAXLE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 61

  4. INSTALL ENGINE HANGERS 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 62

  5. REMOVE FRONT FRAME ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 69

  6. REMOVE MANIFOLD STAY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  7. REMOVE TCM 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10

  8. DISCONNECT WIRE HARNESS 
    1. Disconnect the park/neutral position switch connector.

      *a Park/Neutral Position Switch Connector
    2. Remove the 2 bolts and disengage the 5 clamps to disconnect the wire harness from the automatic transaxle assembly.
  9. REMOVE RADIATOR PIPE CLAMP 
    1. Disengage the air fuel ratio sensor wire harness.

      *1 Breather Plug
      *2 Radiator Pipe Clamp
      *a Air Fuel Ratio Sensor Wire Harness
    2. Disengage the breather plug from the clamp.
    3. Remove the bolt and radiator pipe clamp with the clamp from the engine assembly.
    4. Remove the clamp from the radiator pipe clamp.

  10. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using a transmission jack attachment, set the automatic transaxle assembly on a transmission jack.
      NOTE:
      • Secure the automatic transaxle assembly to the transmission jack using a suitable adapter, such as a rope or attachment.
      • To prevent the automatic transaxle oil pan sub-assembly from deforming, do not place any attachments under the automatic transaxle oil pan sub-assembly.
      • Hold the engine assembly with a suitable adapter, such as a rope, during the operation.
    2. Remove the 11 bolts and automatic transaxle assembly.

      NOTE:

      To prevent damage to the knock pins, do not pry between the automatic transaxle assembly and engine assembly.

  11. REMOVE FRONT ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts and front engine mounting bracket from the automatic transaxle assembly.

  12. REMOVE WIRE HARNESS CLAMP BRACKET 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts and 4 wire harness clamp brackets from the automatic transaxle assembly.

  13. REMOVE NO. 1 TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE BRACKET 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and No. 1 transmission control cable bracket from the automatic transaxle assembly.

  14. REMOVE SPEEDOMETER DRIVEN HOLE (ATM) COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the bolt and speedometer driven hole (ATM) cover sub-assembly from the automatic transaxle assembly.

    2. Remove the O-ring from the speedometer driven hole (ATM) cover sub-assembly.
  15. REMOVE TORQUE CONVERTER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the torque converter assembly from the automatic transaxle assembly.

      NOTE:

      Remove the torque converter assembly from the input shaft horizontally.

  16. INSPECT TORQUE CONVERTER ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  17. INSPECT DRIVE PLATE AND RING GEAR SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2
