DTC P0791: Intermediate Shaft Speed Sensor "A" Circuit; DTC P0793: Intermediate Shaft Speed Sensor "A" [12/2012 - 10/2015]: Procedure

  1. INSPECT TRANSMISSION REVOLUTION SENSOR INSTALLATION 
    1. Remove the transmission valve body assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [12/2012 - ]

    2. Make sure that the connector is properly connected, and check the transmission revolution sensor installation.

      OK

      The installation bolts are tightened properly and there is no clearance between the sensor and transaxle case.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    SECURELY INSTALL OR REPLACE TRANSMISSION REVOLUTION SENSOR. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2012 - ] 

    Result: 

    OK

  2. INSPECT TRANSMISSION WIRE 
    1. Disconnect the transmission revolution sensor connector.

      *1 Transmission Wire
      *a Transmission Revolution Sensor Side
      *b Wiring Harness Connector Side
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      NCB transmission revolution sensor side - A-4 (NCB) wiring harness connector side Always Below 1 Ω
      NCO transmission revolution sensor side - A-3 (NCO) wiring harness connector side Always Below 1 Ω
      NCB transmission revolution sensor side or A-4 (NCB) wiring harness connector side - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
      NCO transmission revolution sensor side or A-3 (NCO) wiring harness connector side - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE TRANSMISSION WIRE. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2012 - ] 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the B78 wiring harness connector.
    2. Disconnect the B77 ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B78-4 (NCB) - B77-118 (NCB) Always Below 1 Ω
      B78-3 (NCO) - B77-117 (NCO) Always Below 1 Ω
      B78-4 (NCB) or B77-118 (NCB) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B78-3 (NCO) or B77-117 (NCO) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. INSPECT WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR 
    1. Remove the wiring harness connector.

      *1 Wiring Harness Connector - -
      *a Transmission Wire Side *b ECM Side
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A-4 (NCB) - B78-4 (NCB) Always Below 1 Ω
      A-3 (NCO) - B78-3 (NCO) Always Below 1 Ω
      A-4 (NCB) - All other terminals except B78-4 (NCB) Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A-3 (NCO) - All other terminals except B78-3 (NCO) Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2012 - 08/2017]

  5. REPLACE TRANSMISSION REVOLUTION SENSOR 
    1. Replace the transmission revolution sensor.

      Refer to REMOVAL [12/2012 - ]

    Result:

  6. CHECK IF DTC OUTPUT RECURS (DTC P0791 OR P0793) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Start the engine and turn the Techstream on.
    3. Clear the DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [12/2012 - ]

      HINT: 

      Write down the currently output DTCs before clearing them.

      Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Clear DTCs 

    4. Perform the monitor drive pattern.

      Refer to MONITOR DRIVE PATTERN [12/2012 - ]

    5. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.

      Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Trouble Codes 

    6. Read the DTCs using the Techstream.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Only P0791 or P0793 is output A
      DTCs are not output B

    Result: 

    REPLACE ECM. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2012 - ]
