DTC P0712, P0713; Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor "A" Circuit Low Input [12/2012 - 11/2013]: Procedure

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ATF TEMPERATURE SENSOR CIRCUIT) 
    1. Disconnect the ECM connector.

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to ECM)
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B77-120 (THO1) - B77-119 (ETHO) Always 79 Ω to 156 kΩ
      B77-120 (THO1) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B77-119 (ETHO) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE ECM:  REMOVAL [12/2012 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    See step  2

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the B78 wiring harness connector.
    2. Disconnect the B77 ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B78-13 (OIL) - B77-120 (THO1) Always Below 1 Ω
      B78-12 (E2) - B77-119 (ETHO) Always Below 1 Ω
      B78-13 (OIL) or B77-120 (THO1) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B78-12 (E2) or B77-119 (ETHO) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. INSPECT ATF TEMPERATURE SENSOR 
    1. Remove the wiring harness connector.

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Transmission Wire)
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A-18 (THO1) - A-17 (E2) Always 79 Ω to 156 kΩ
      A-18 (THO1) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A-17 (E2) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher

      HINT: 

      If the resistance is out of the specified range at any of the ATF temperatures shown in the table below, the driveability of the vehicle may decrease.

      ATF Temperature Specified Condition
      10°C (50°F) 5 to 8 kΩ
      25°C (77°F) 2.5 to 4.5 kΩ
      110°C (230°F) 0.22 to 0.28 kΩ

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR:  REMOVAL [12/2012 - 08/2017] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE ATF TEMPERATURE SENSOR (TRANSMISSION WIRE):  REMOVAL [12/2012 - ]
