Removal [12/2018 - 07/2020]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    NOTE:

    After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

    Refer to PRECAUTION [12/2018 - 08/2019] , or refer to PRECAUTION [08/2019 - ]

  2. REMOVE SERVICE PLUG GRIP 

    Refer to REMOVAL [12/2018 - 07/2020]

  3. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 FLOOR BOARD 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  4. REMOVE REAR DECK FLOOR BOX 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11

  5. REMOVE INVERTER TERMINAL COVER 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Remove the 5 bolts and inverter terminal cover from the rear hybrid motor control inverter assembly.

      *a Interlock
      *b Waterproof Seal
      NOTE:
      • Make sure to pull the inverter terminal cover straight out, as a connector is connected to the inside of the inverter terminal cover.
      • Do not touch the waterproof seal of the inverter terminal cover.
      • Do not allow any foreign matter or water to enter the rear hybrid motor control inverter assembly.
      • Make sure that the interlock is installed to the inverter terminal cover.
  6. CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    NOTE:
    • Do not allow any foreign matter or water to enter the rear hybrid motor control inverter assembly.
    • Do not use A terminal for measurement.
    1. Using a voltmeter, measure the voltage between the terminals of the 2 phase connectors.

      Standard Voltage

      0 V

      HINT: 

      Use a measuring range of DC 750 V or more on the voltmeter.

  7. DISCONNECT HV FLOOR UNDER WIRE 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Using an insulated tool, remove the 4 bolts and disconnect the HV floor under wire from the rear hybrid motor control inverter assembly.

      *a Waterproof Seal
      NOTE:
      • Do not allow any foreign matter or water to enter the rear hybrid motor control inverter assembly.
      • Do not touch the waterproof seal or terminals of the HV floor under wire.
      • Do not damage the terminals, connector housing or rear hybrid motor control inverter assembly during disconnection.
      • Insulate the disconnected terminals with insulating tape.
  8. DISCONNECT HV BATTERY PACK WIRE 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Using an insulated tool, remove the 4 bolts and disconnect the HV battery pack wire from the rear hybrid motor control inverter assembly.

      *b Waterproof Seal
      NOTE:
      • Do not allow any foreign matter or water to enter the rear hybrid motor control inverter assembly.
      • Do not touch the waterproof seal or terminals of theHV battery pack wire.
      • Do not damage the terminals, connector housing or rear hybrid motor control inverter assembly during disconnection.
      • Insulate the disconnected terminals with insulating tape.
      • Make sure to pull the HV battery pack wire straight out, as a connector is connected to the inside of the inverter terminal cover.
  9. DISCONNECT REAR TRACTION MOTOR CABLE 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Using an insulated tool, remove the 5 bolts and disconnect the rear traction motor cable from the rear hybrid motor control inverter assembly.

      *a Waterproof Seal
      NOTE:
      • Do not allow any foreign matter or water to enter the rear hybrid motor control inverter assembly.
      • Do not touch the waterproof seal or terminals of the rear traction motor cable.
      • Do not damage the terminals, connector housing or rear hybrid motor control inverter assembly during disconnection.
      • Insulate the disconnected terminals with insulating tape.
      • Make sure to pull the rear traction motor cable out, as a connector is connected to the inside of the inverter terminal cover.
  10. TEMPORARILY INSTALL INVERTER TERMINAL COVER 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Temporarily install the inverter terminal cover with the 5 bolts.

      NOTE:

      Do not touch the waterproof seal of the inverter terminal cover.

  11. REMOVE REAR HYBRID MOTOR CONTROL INVERTER ASSEMBLY 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Disconnect the 2 rear hybrid motor control inverter assembly connectors.
      NOTE:
      • Do not touch the waterproof seal or terminals of the connector.
      • Do not damage the terminals, connector housing or rear hybrid motor control inverter assembly during disconnection.
      • Cover the hole where the cable was connected with tape (non-residue type) or equivalent to prevent entry of foreign matter.
      • Do not allow any foreign matter or water to enter therear hybrid motor control inverter assembly.
      • Insulate the disconnected terminals with insulating tape.
      • To prevent damage due to staticelectricity, do not touch the terminals of the disconnected connectors.

    2. Remove the 3 bolts and rear hybrid motor control inverter assembly.

      NOTE:
      • Do not damage the terminals, connector housing or rear hybrid motor control inverter assembly during disconnection.
      • Cover the hole where the cable was connected with tape (non-residue type) or equivalent to prevent entry of foreign matter.
      • Do not allow any foreign matter or water to enter the rear hybrid motor control inverter assembly.
      • Insulate the disconnected terminals with insulating tape.
      • To prevent damage due to staticelectricity, do not touch the terminals of the disconnected connectors.
  12. REMOVE HV INVERTER COOLING COVER 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    HINT: 

    Perform this procedure only when replacement of the HV inverter cooling fan is necessary.

    1. Using a T25 "TORX" socket wrench, remove the 4 bolts and HV inverter cooling cover from the rear hybrid motor control inverter assembly.

  13. REMOVE HV INVERTER COOLING FAN 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    HINT: 

    Perform this procedure only when replacement of the HV inverter cooling fan is necessary.

    1. Disconnect the rear hybrid motor control inverter assembly.

    2. Disengage the clamp.
    3. Disengage the 2 guides.

    4. Using a T20 "TORX" socket wrench, remove the 3 bolts and HV inverter cooling fan from the rear hybrid motor control inverter assembly.
