Removal [07/2020 - ]: Procedure

  1. REMOVE FUEL SUCTION TUBE WITH PUMP AND GAUGE ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [07/2020 - ] 

  2. DRAIN FUEL 
  3. REMOVE TAIL EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [08/2019 - ]

  4. REMOVE NO. 1 FLOOR UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts.

      *A for 2WD
      *B for AWD
    2. Disengage the clip to remove the No. 1 floor under cover assembly.
  5. REMOVE REAR FLOOR SIDE MEMBER COVER LH 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts and clip (A).

      *A for 2WD
      *B for AWD
    2. Disengage the clip (B) to remove the rear floor side member cover LH.
  6. REMOVE NO. 1 FUEL TANK PROTECTOR 
    1. Remove the 4 clips and No. 1 fuel tank protector from the fuel tank assembly.

  7. DISCONNECT FUEL TANK VENT HOSE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. for 2WD:
      1. Disconnect the fuel tank vent hose sub-assembly from the fuel tank solenoid main valve assembly.

        Refer to PRECAUTION [12/2018 - ]

    2. for AWD:
      1. Disengage the clamp to disconnect the fuel tank vent hose sub-assembly from the No. 1 evaporation vent tube clamp.

  8. DISCONNECT FUEL TANK FILLER PIPE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the fuel tank filler pipe assembly from the fuel tank assembly.

      Refer to PRECAUTION [12/2018 - ]

  9. SEPARATE NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and separate the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.

  10. DISCONNECT FUEL TANK MAIN TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the fuel tank main tube sub-assembly from the fuel pipe.

      *A for 2WD
      *B for AWD

      Refer to PRECAUTION [12/2018 - ]

  11. REMOVE FUEL TANK ASSEMBLY 
    WARNING:

    The fuel tank assembly is very heavy. Be sure to follow the procedure described in the repair information, or the fuel tank assembly may fall off the engine lifter.

    1. Support the fuel tank assembly using an engine lifter.

      HINT: 

      Using height adjustment attachments and plate lift attachments, keep the fuel tank assembly horizontal.

    2. Remove the 4 bolts.

    3. Lower the engine lifter to remove the fuel tank assembly.
      NOTE:
      • Be careful not to drop the fuel tank assembly.
      • When removing the fuel tank assembly, tilt it slightly to prevent it from interfering with the surrounding parts.
  12. REMOVE FUEL TANK MAIN TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. for 2WD:
      1. Disengage the 3 clamps to remove the fuel tank main tube sub-assembly from the fuel tank assembly.

    2. for AWD:
      1. Disengage the 4 clamps to remove the fuel tank main tube sub-assembly from the fuel tank assembly.

  13. REMOVE FUEL TANK VENT HOSE SUB-ASSEMBLY (for 2WD) 
    1. Disengage the 2 clamps to remove the fuel tank vent hose sub-assembly from the fuel tank assembly.

  14. REMOVE NO. 1 EVAPORATION VENT TUBE CLAMP (for AWD) 
    1. Disengage the clamp to remove the No. 1 evaporation vent tube clamp from the fuel tank assembly.

  15. REMOVE NO. 1 FUEL TANK PROTECTOR SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 3 clips and No. 1 fuel tank protector sub-assembly from the fuel tank assembly.
