DTC P0AD9-15: Hybrid/EV Battery Positive Contactor Circuit Short to Auxiliary Battery or Open [11/2015 - 12/2018]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (SMRB STATUS) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / SMRB Status.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Data List 

      Tester Display
      SMRB Status
    4. Read the Data List.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      The value of SMRB Status is OFF A
      Other than above B
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    Result: 

    B

  2. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR) 
    1. Check the connector connections and contact pressure of the relevant terminals for the hybrid vehicle control ECU connectors.

      HINT: 

      Refer to ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE [11/2015 - ]

      OK

      The connectors are connected securely and there are no contact pressure problems.

  3. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (FLOOR WIRE CONNECTOR) 
    1. Check the connection condition of the MF2 floor wire connector and the contact pressure of each terminal. Check the terminals for deformation, and check the connector for water ingress and foreign matter.

      HINT: 

      Refer to ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE [11/2015 - ]

      OK

      - The connector is connected securely.

      - The terminals are not deformed and are connected securely.

      - No water or foreign matter in the connector.

      Result

  4. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (HV BATTERY JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY CONNECTOR) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the power switch on (READY), unless instructed by the service information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Remove the No. 1 HV battery cover panel RH.

      HINT: 

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 29

    3. Check the connector connections and contact pressure of the relevant terminals of the M37 HV battery junction block assembly connector.

      HINT: 

      Refer to ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE [11/2015 - ]

      OK

      The connectors are connected securely and there are no contact pressure problems.

    4. Install the No. 1 HV battery cover panel RH.

      Result

    CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS. Refer to  CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS [11/2015 - ]

    CONNECT SECURELY 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SMRB VOLTAGE) 
    1. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

  6. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR) 
    1. Check the connector connections and contact pressure of the relevant terminals for the hybrid vehicle control ECU connectors.

      The connectors are connected securely and there are no contact pressure problems.

    REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2015 - 12/2018]

    CONNECT SECURELY 

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the F2 hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY WIRES) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the power switch on (READY), unless instructed by the service information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Remove the No. 1 HV battery cover panel RH.

      HINT: 

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 29

    3. Disconnect the M37 HV battery junction block assembly connector.

    4. Disconnect the F2 hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    5. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    6. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      NOTE:

      Turning the power switch on (IG) with the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector and the HV battery junction block assembly connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    7. Turn the power switch off.
    8. Reconnect the F2 hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    9. Reconnect the M37 HV battery junction block assembly connector.
    10. Install the No. 1 HV battery cover panel RH.

      Result

      Proceed to

      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2015 - 12/2018]

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  9. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (FLOOR WIRE CONNECTOR) 
    1. Check the connection condition of the MF2 floor wire connector and the contact pressure of each terminal. Check the terminals for deformation, and check the connector for water ingress and foreign matter.

      HINT: 

      Refer to ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE [11/2015 - ]

      OK

      - The connector is connected securely.

      - The terminals are not deformed and are connected securely.

      - No water or foreign matter in the connector.

  10. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - HV BATTERY JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the power switch on (READY), unless instructed by the service information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Remove the No. 1 HV battery cover panel RH.

      HINT: 

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 29

    3. Disconnect the M37 HV battery junction block assembly connector.

    4. Disconnect the F2 hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)

    6. Reconnect the F2 hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    7. Reconnect the M37 HV battery junction block assembly connector.
    8. Install the No. 1 HV battery cover panel RH.

  11. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HV BATTERY JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.

    2. Remove the No. 1 HV battery cover panel RH.

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    6. Install the No. 1 HV battery cover panel RH.

  12. INSPECT HV BATTERY JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY (SMRB) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the power switch on (READY), unless instructed by the service information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Remove the No. 1 HV battery cover panel RH.

      HINT: 

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 29

    3. Disconnect the M37 HV battery junction block assembly connector.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
