DTC P0ABF-00: Hybrid/EV Battery Current Sensor "A" Circuit Range/Performance [11/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HYBRID CONTROL) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check for DTCs.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Only P0ABF-00 is output A
      P0AFC-00 or P0AFC-96 is output B
      Other than above C
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    Result:

    GO TO DTC CHART (HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM). Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [11/2015 - 11/2017]  , or refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [11/2017 - 12/2018]  , or refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [12/2018 - 08/2019]  , or refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [08/2019 - 06/2021]  , or refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [06/2021 - ] 

    Result:

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY VOLTAGE SENSOR - HV BATTERY JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the power switch on (READY), unless instructed by the service information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Remove the No. 1 HV battery cover panel RH.

      HINT: 

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 29 [11/2015 - 12/2018] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 29 [12/2018 - 07/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 29 [07/2020 - ]

    3. Disconnect the z6 battery current sensor connector from the HV battery junction block assembly.

      NOTE:

      Before disconnecting the connector, check that it is not loose or disconnected.

    4. Remove the No. 1 hybrid battery exhaust duct.

      HINT: 

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 32 [11/2015 - 12/2018] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 32 [12/2018 - 07/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 32 [07/2020 - ]

    5. Disconnect the z5 battery voltage sensor connector.
      NOTE:

      Before disconnecting the connector, check that it is not loose or disconnected.

    6. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the tables below.

      *a Rear view of wire harness connector
      (to Battery Voltage Sensor)
      *b Front view of wire harness connector
      (to HV Battery Junction Block Assembly (Battery Current Sensor))

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)

      HINT: 

      As the battery harness is not available as a supply part, if the harness cannot be repaired, replace the HV battery.

    7. Reconnect the z5 battery voltage sensor connector.
    8. Install the No. 1 hybrid battery exhaust duct.
    9. Reconnect the z6 battery current sensor connector to the HV battery junction block assembly.
    10. Install the No. 1 HV battery cover panel RH.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE HYBRID BATTERY THERMISTOR. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2015 - 12/2018]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [12/2018 - 07/2020]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [07/2020 - ] 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. REPLACE HV BATTERY JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY 

    HINT: 

    Refer to REMOVAL [11/2015 - 12/2018] , or refer to REMOVAL [12/2018 - 07/2020] , or refer to REMOVAL [07/2020 - ]

  4. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Clear the DTCs.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Clear DTCs 

    5. Turn the power switch off and wait for 2 minutes or more.

      Result

      Proceed to
      NEXT

    Result:

  5. PERFORM ROAD TEST 
    1. Drive the vehicle for approximately 10 minutes according to the freeze frame data items "Vehicle Speed", "Accelerator Position", "Hybrid Battery Current", "Motor Torque" and "Generator Torque".
      WARNING:

      When performing the confirmation driving pattern, obey all speed limits and traffic laws.

  6. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HYBRID CONTROL) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    4. Check for DTCs.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Trouble Codes

      P0ABF-00 is output B
    5. Turn the power switch off.
