Steering Angle Sensor Communication Stop Mode [11/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR OPEN IN CAN BUS LINES (SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY BRANCH LINE) 
    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    2. Disconnect the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly (steering sensor) connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G30-4 (CANH) - G30-3 (CANL) Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal 54 to 69 Ω
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Spiral Cable with Sensor Sub-assembly (Steering Sensor))

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE CAN BRANCH LINE OR CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY (STEERING SENSOR)) 

    Result: 

    OK

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G30-2 (ESS) - Body ground Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal Below 1 Ω

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Spiral Cable with Sensor Sub-assembly (Steering Sensor))
    2. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Value
      G30-5 (IG) - Body ground Ignition switch ON (IG) 11 to 14 V
      G30-6 (BAT) - Body ground Ignition switch off 11 to 14 V

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY

    NG
