Check CAN Bus Line for Short to +B [11/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR SHORT TO +B IN CAN BUS LINE (CAN J/C RH) 
    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    2. Disconnect the G72 CAN junction connector RH.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      G72-1 (CANH) - G4-16 (BAT) Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal 6 kΩ or higher Spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly (Steering sensor)

  2. CHECK FOR SHORT TO +B IN CAN BUS LINE (CAN J/C LH (INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE SIDE)) 
    1. Disconnect the G71 CAN junction connector LH (instrument panel wire side).

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

  3. CHECK FOR SHORT TO +B IN CAN BUS LINE (CAN J/C LH (ENGINE ROOM MAIN WIRE SIDE)) 
    1. Disconnect the A51 CAN junction connector LH (engine room main wire side).

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      A51-9 (CANH) - G4-16 (BAT) Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal 6 kΩ or higher ECM
      A51-20 (CANL) - G4-16 (BAT)

  4. CHECK FOR SHORT TO +B IN CAN BUS LINE (ECU, SENSOR) 
    1. Reconnect all wire harness connectors (CAN junction connector LH and CAN junction connector RH).
    2. Disconnect the ECU or sensor connected to the CAN bus line that is shorted to +B.

      HINT: 

      If the ECU or sensor has multiple connectors, disconnect the connector that includes the CAN bus lines. To determine the ECU or sensor that is connected to the shorted bus line, refer to the terminals of ECU tables (Refer to TERMINALS OF ECU [11/2015 - 06/2017] Refer to TERMINALS OF ECU [06/2017 - ] ).

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      G4-6 (CANH) - G4-16 (BAT) Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal 6 kΩ or higher
      G4-14 (CANL) - G4-16 (BAT)

      HINT: 

      If the resistance changes to 6 kΩ or higher when the connector is disconnected from the ECU or sensor, there may be a short in the ECU or sensor.

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE CORRESPONDING ECU OR SENSOR

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE CORRESPONDING ECU OR SENSOR BUS LINE OR CONNECTOR
