DTC C1299: Cancellation of 4WD Control [10/2020 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK VEHICLE USAGE 
    1. Check that there has been no unintended vehicle usage.

      OK

      There is no evidence of rough use (the vehicle has not been driven on damaged or snowy roads, etc. for a long time).

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [10/2020 - 08/2021]  , or refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [08/2021 - ] 

    Result: 

    OK

  2. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Check if the vehicle stability control system DTC is output.

      Chassis > Brake > Trouble Codes 

    5. Read the DTCs using the Techstream.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Only DTC C1299 is output A
      DTC C1299 and other DTCs (vehicle stability control system DTC) are output B

    Result: 

    REPAIR CIRCUIT INDICATED BY OUTPUT CODE (VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM). Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [10/2020 - 08/2021]  , or refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [08/2021 - ]

  3. CHECK RELATED PART 
    1. Check the condition, size and tire pressure of the front and rear tires.

      Refer to INSPECTION [03/2020 - ]

    2. Inspect the suspension and ball joint, etc. for rattle.
    3. Inspect the drive shaft and propeller shaft rotation condition.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE MALFUNCTIONING PARTS 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. RECONFIRM DTC 
    1. Clear the DTC.

      Chassis > Four Wheel Drive > Clear DTCs 

    2. Start the engine.
    3. Drive the vehicle at a speed of 20 km/h (12 mph) or more and check that the same DTC is output.

      Chassis > Four Wheel Drive > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC is output A
      DTC is not output B

    Result: 

    CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [10/2020 - 08/2021]  , or refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [08/2021 - ]

  5. REPLACE 4WD ECU ASSEMBLY 
    1. Replace the 4WD ECU assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [10/2020 - ]

      Result

  6. RECONFIRM DTC 
    1. Clear the DTC.

      Chassis > Four Wheel Drive > Clear DTCs 

    2. Start the engine.
    3. Drive the vehicle at a speed of 20 km/h (12 mph) or more and check that the same DTC is output.

      Chassis > Four Wheel Drive > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC is output A
      DTC is not output B

    Result: 

    REPLACE TRANSMISSION COUPLING ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2020 - ]
