DTC B2430: LED Headlight LH Circuit Malfunction; DTC B2431: LED Headlight RH Circuit Malfunction [10/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Clear the DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [10/2014 - ]

    2. Check for DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [10/2014 - ]

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC B2430 and B2431 are not output A
      Both DTC B2430 and B2431 are output B
      DTC B2430 or B2431 is output C

    Result: 

    USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [10/2015 - ]

  2. INSPECT H-LP RELAY 
    1. Remove the H-LP relay from the engine room relay block and junction block assembly.
    2. Inspect the H-LP relay.

      Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION [10/2014 - ]

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE H-LP RELAY 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE - H-LP RELAY) 
    1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Relay Terminal 2 - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V
      Relay Terminal 5 - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (H-LP RELAY - HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY LH AND HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY RH) 
    1. Disconnect the A48 headlight assembly LH connector.
    2. Disconnect the A52 headlight assembly RH connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Relay Terminal 3 - A48-1 (LO) Always Below 1 Ω
      Relay Terminal 3 - A52-1 (LO) Always Below 1 Ω
      Relay Terminal 3, A48-1 (LO) or A52-1 (LO) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (H-LP RELAY - INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the 3D instrument panel junction block assembly connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Relay Terminal 1 - 3D-12 Always Below 1 Ω
      Relay Terminal 1 or 3D-12 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  6. INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the instrument panel junction block assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - ]

    2. Remove the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) from the instrument panel junction block assembly.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Instrument Panel Junction Block Assembly)

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      3D-12 - MB-15 (HRLY) Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU). Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2014 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2014 - ] 

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY - H-LP RELAY) 
    1. Disconnect the A52 or A48 headlight assembly connector.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      LH SIDE (DTC B2430)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A48-1 (LO) - Body ground Light control switch in head position 11 to 14 V
      RH SIDE (DTC B2431)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A52-1 (LO) - Body ground Light control switch in head position 11 to 14 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      LH SIDE (DTC B2430)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A48-4 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      RH SIDE (DTC B2431)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A52-4 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

  9. CHECK HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY (INPUT VOLTAGE) 
    1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      LH SIDE (DTC B2430)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A48-2 (S) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG), light control switch in head position 11 to 14 V
      RH SIDE (DTC B2431)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A52-2 (S) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG), light control switch in head position 11 to 14 V

  10. REPLACE LIGHT CONTROL ECU 
    1. Replace the light control ECU with a new or known good one.

      Refer to DISASSEMBLY [10/2015 - ]

    2. Check for DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [10/2014 - ]

      OK

      DTC B2430 or B2431 is not output.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:

    END (LIGHT CONTROL ECU WAS DEFECTIVE)

  11. REPLACE HEADLIGHT UNIT 
    1. Replace the headlight unit with a new or known good one.

      Refer to DISASSEMBLY [10/2015 - ]

    2. Check for DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [10/2014 - ]

      OK

      DTC B2430 or B2431 is not output.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    END (HEADLIGHT UNIT WAS DEFECTIVE)

    REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU). Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2014 - ] 

  12. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU) - HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the D5 main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      LH SIDE (DTC B2430)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D5-24 (LLEW) - A48-2 (S) Always Below 1 Ω
      D5-24 (LLEW) or A48-2 (S)- Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      RH SIDE (DTC B2431)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D5-21 (RLEW) - A52-2 (S) Always Below 1 Ω
      D5-21 (RLEW) or A52-2 (S) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to

      NG

    Result:

    REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU). Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2014 - ]
