Check Bus 5 Lines for Short Circuit [10/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. CONFIRM MODEL 
    1. Choose the model to be inspected.
        Proceed to
      for Models with Blind Spot Monitor System or Parking Assist Monitor System A
      for Models without Blind Spot Monitor System and Parking Assist Monitor System B

  2. CHECK FOR SHORT IN CAN BUS LINES (NO. 6 CAN JUNCTION CONNECTOR) 
    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
    2. Disconnect the D131 No. 6 CAN junction connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      *c to Millimeter Wave Radar Sensor Assembly

  3. CHECK FOR SHORT IN CAN BUS LINES (CENTRAL GATEWAY ECU) 
    1. Remove the central gateway ECU.

      Refer to REMOVAL [10/2015 - ]

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    REPAIR OR REPLACE CAN MAIN BUS LINES OR CONNECTOR (CENTRAL GATEWAY ECU - NO. 6 CAN JUNCTION CONNECTOR) 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE CENTRAL GATEWAY ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2015 - ] 

  4. CHECK FOR SHORT IN CAN BUS LINES (NO. 5 CAN JUNCTION CONNECTOR) 
    1. Reconnect the D131 No. 6 CAN junction connector.
    2. Disconnect the O20 No. 5 CAN junction connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      *b to Rear Television Camera Assembly
      *c to Central Gateway ECU (CA5H and CA5L Terminal)

  5. CHECK FOR SHORT IN CAN BUS LINES (CENTRAL GATEWAY ECU) 
    1. Remove the central gateway ECU.

      Refer to REMOVAL [10/2015 - ]

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    OK 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE CAN MAIN BUS LINES OR CONNECTOR (CENTRAL GATEWAY ECU - NO. 5 CAN JUNCTION CONNECTOR) 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE CENTRAL GATEWAY ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2015 - ] 

  6. CHECK FOR SHORT IN CAN BUS LINES (ECU, SENSOR) 
    1. Reconnect the O20 No. 5 CAN junction connector.
    2. Disconnect the connector that includes terminals CANH and CANL from the ECU or sensor to which the short circuited branch line is connected.

      Refer to TERMINALS OF ECU [10/2015 - ]

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      (Central Gateway ECU)

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D127-15 (CA5H) - D127-16 (CA5L) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 54 to 69 Ω

      HINT: 

      If the resistance becomes normal (between 54 and 69 Ω) when the connector is disconnected from the ECU or sensor, there may be a short in the ECU or sensor.

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE CORRESPONDING ECU OR SENSOR 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE CORRESPONDING ECU OR SENSOR BRANCH LINES OR CONNECTOR 

  7. CHECK FOR SHORT IN CAN BUS LINES (ECU, SENSOR) 
    1. Reconnect the D131 No. 6 CAN junction connector.
    2. Disconnect the connector that includes terminals CANH and CANL from the ECU or sensor to which the short circuited branch line is connected.

      Refer to TERMINALS OF ECU [10/2015 - ]

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      (Central Gateway ECU)

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D127-15 (CA5H) - D127-16 (CA5L) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 54 to 69 Ω

      HINT: 

      If the resistance becomes normal (between 54 and 69 Ω) when the connector is disconnected from the ECU or sensor, there may be a short in the ECU or sensor.

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE CORRESPONDING ECU OR SENSOR 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE CORRESPONDING ECU OR SENSOR BRANCH LINES OR CONNECTOR 

  8. CHECK FOR SHORT IN CAN BUS LINES (NO. 6 CAN JUNCTION CONNECTOR) 
    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
    2. Disconnect the D131 No. 6 CAN junction connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  9. CHECK FOR SHORT IN CAN BUS LINES (CENTRAL GATEWAY ECU) 
    1. Remove the central gateway ECU.

      Refer to REMOVAL [10/2015 - ]

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    REPAIR OR REPLACE CAN MAIN BUS LINES OR CONNECTOR (CENTRAL GATEWAY ECU - NO. 6 CAN JUNCTION CONNECTOR)

    REPLACE CENTRAL GATEWAY ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2015 - ] 

  10. CHECK FOR SHORT IN CAN BUS LINES (CENTRAL GATEWAY ECU) 
    1. Remove the central gateway ECU.

      Refer to REMOVAL [10/2015 - ]

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

    REPLACE CENTRAL GATEWAY ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2015 - ] 

  11. CHECK FOR SHORT IN CAN BUS LINES (ECU, SENSOR) 
    1. Reconnect the D131 No. 6 CAN junction connector.
    2. Disconnect the connector that includes terminals CANH and CANL from the ECU or sensor to which the short circuited branch line is connected.

      Refer to TERMINALS OF ECU [10/2015 - ]

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
