Fuel Receiver Gauge Malfunction [08/2019 - ]: Procedure
- CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
- Check if a CAN communication DTC is output.
Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [08/2019 - 08/2021] , or refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [08/2021 - 08/2022] , or refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [08/2022 - ]
RESULTResult Proceed to CAN communication DTC is not output A CAN communication DTC is output B
Result:
B
GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. Refer to HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [08/2019 - ]
Result:
A
See step 2
- Check if a CAN communication DTC is output.
- PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (FUEL METER OPERATION)
- Use the Active Test to check the operation of the fuel receiver gauge.
Refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST [08/2019 - 08/2021] , or refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST [08/2021 - ]
COMBINATION METERTester Display Test Part Control Range Diagnostic Note Fuel Meter Operation Fuel receiver gauge Empty, 1/2, Full Confirm that the vehicle is stopped with the engine idling. OK
Fuel receiver gauge indication is normal.
Result:
NG
REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - 08/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [08/2022 - ]
Result:
OK
See step 3
- Use the Active Test to check the operation of the fuel receiver gauge.
- READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (FUEL INPUT)
- Use the Data List to check if the fuel receiver gauge is operating properly.
Refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST [08/2019 - 08/2021] , or refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST [08/2021 - ]
COMBINATION METERTester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note Fuel Input Fuel input signal/Min.: 0, Max.: 127.5 Current fuel level displayed Unit: Liters OK
Fuel level signal displayed on the Techstream is almost the same as fuel receiver gauge indication.
Result:
NG
REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
Result:
OK
See step 4
- Use the Data List to check if the fuel receiver gauge is operating properly.
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMBINATION METER - FUEL SUCTION WITH PUMP AND BODY GROUND)
- Disconnect the F14 combination meter assembly connector.
- Disconnect the Q5 fuel sender gauge assembly connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance
Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition F14-26 (L) - Q5-2 (FS) Always Below 1 Ω F14-2 (E3) - Q5-3 (FE) Always Below 1 Ω F14-26 (L) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher F14-2 (E3) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
Result:
NG
REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
Result:
OK
See step 5
- INSPECT FUEL SUCTION WITH PUMP AND GAUGE TUBE ASSEMBLY
*a Component without harness connected
(Fuel Suction Tube with Pump and Gauge Assembly)*b Lower Side (to Fuel Sender Gauge Assembly) *c Connector A *d Connector B - Remove the fuel suction with pump and gauge tube assembly.
Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ]
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance
Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition A-2 (FS) - B-2 Always Below 1 Ω A-3 (FE) - B-1
Result:
NG
REPLACE FUEL SUCTION WITH PUMP AND GAUGE TUBE ASSEMBLY. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ]
Result:
OK
See step 6
- Remove the fuel suction with pump and gauge tube assembly.
- INSPECT FUEL SENDER GAUGE ASSEMBLY
- Remove the fuel sender gauge assembly.
Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ]
- Inspect the fuel sender gauge assembly.
Refer to INSPECTION [08/2015 - ]
OK
Fuel sender gauge assembly is normal.
Result:
OK
REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - 08/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [08/2022 - ]
Result:
