See step 2
- Check if a CAN communication system DTC is output.
- CHECK VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM
- Check if a vehicle stability control system DTC is output.
Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [12/2012 - 10/2015] .
Chassis > ABS/VSC/TRC > Trouble Codes
Result Proceed to DTC is not output Vehicle stability control system DTC is output
Result:
Vehicle stability control system DTC is output
GO TO VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM. Refer to HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [12/2012 - ] .
Result:
DTC is not output
See step 3
- Check if a vehicle stability control system DTC is output.
- PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (SPEED METER OPERATION)
- Using the Techstream, perform the Active Test.
Refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST [12/2012 - 10/2015] .
Body Electrical > Combination Meter > Active Test

Body Electrical > Combination Meter > Active Test
Tester Display Speed Meter Operation OK
Speedometer indication is normal.
Result Proceed to OK NG
Result:
NG
REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY. Refer to REMOVAL [12/2012 - ] .
Result:
OK
See step 4
- Using the Techstream, perform the Active Test.
- READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (VEHICLE SPEED METER, VEHICLE SPEED)
- Using the Techstream, read the Data List.
Refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST [12/2012 - 10/2015] .
Body Electrical > Combination Meter > Data List
Tester Display Measurement Item Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note Vehicle Speed Meter Vehicle speed Min.: 0 mph (0 km/h), Max.: 255 km/h (158 mph) Almost same as actual vehicle speed measured using a speedometer tester - Chassis > ABS/VSC/TRC > Data List
Tester Display Measurement Item Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note Vehicle Speed Vehicle speed Min.: 0 mph (0 km/h), Max.: 326 km/h (202 mph) Almost same as actual vehicle speed measured using a speedometer tester - Body Electrical > Combination Meter > Data List
Tester Display Vehicle Speed Meter Chassis > ABS/VSC/TRC > Data List
Tester Display Vehicle Speed HINT:
- When the Data List values of the ECUs match, an internal malfunction of the combination meter assembly is suspected.
- When the Data List values of the ECUs do not match, a signal output error of the brake actuator assembly (skid control ECU) or an internal malfunction of the combination meter assembly is suspected.
Result Proceed to The Data List values of the ECUs match The Data List values of the ECUs do not match
Result:
The Data List values of the ECUs match
REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY. Refer to REMOVAL [12/2012 - ] .
Result:
The Data List values of the ECUs do not match
See step 5
- Using the Techstream, read the Data List.
- CHECK COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
- Replace the combination meter assembly with a new or normally functioning one.
Refer to REMOVAL [12/2012 - ] .
- Check the speedometer operation.
OK
The operation of the speedometer returns to normal.
Result Proceed to OK NG
Result:
OK
END (COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY WAS DEFECTIVE)
Result:
