Removal [12/2012 - 08/2016]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    NOTE:

    After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work (Refer to PRECAUTION [12/2012 - ] ).

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    WARNING:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (Refer to INITIALIZATION [12/2012 - 10/2015] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [10/2015 - 08/2016] ).

  3. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [12/2012 - ]

  4. REMOVE COWL VENTILATOR HOUSING SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disengage the 3 clips and remove the cowl ventilator housing sub-assembly.

  5. REMOVE COWL TOP PANEL OUTER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 13 bolts and cowl top panel outer sub-assembly.

  6. REMOVE COWL BODY MOUNTING REINFORCEMENT LH 
    1. Remove the 2 nuts and cowl body mounting reinforcement LH.

  7. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [12/2012 - ]

  8. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID 
    NOTE:

    Wash off brake fluid immediately if it comes in contact with any painted surface.

  9. DISCONNECT BRAKE LINE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6 [12/2012 - 10/2015] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5 [10/2015 - 08/2016]

  10. REMOVE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY WITH BRACKET 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7 [12/2012 - 10/2015] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5 [10/2015 - 08/2016]

  11. REMOVE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    See step  3

  12. DISCONNECT VACUUM HOSE 
    1. Slide the clip and disconnect the vacuum hose.
  13. REMOVE LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [12/2012 - ]

  14. REMOVE BRAKE PEDAL RETURN SPRING 

    See step  7

  15. REMOVE PUSH ROD PIN 

    See step  8

  16. REMOVE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER PUSH ROD CLEVIS 
    1. Loosen the push rod clevis lock nut.
    2. Remove the push rod clevis.
  17. REMOVE BRAKE BOOSTER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 4 nuts.

    2. Pull out the brake booster with the brake booster gasket.
      NOTE:

      Do not damage the brake lines.

  18. REMOVE BRAKE BOOSTER GASKET 
  19. REMOVE BRAKE VACUUM CHECK VALVE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the brake vacuum check valve assembly from the brake booster.
  20. REMOVE CHECK VALVE GROMMET 
    1. Remove the check valve grommet from the brake booster.
