DTC P0351-P0354; Ignition Coil "A" Primary / Secondary Circuit [12/2012 - 10/2015]: Procedure

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the ignition coil assembly connectors.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B12-4 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      B11-4 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      B10-4 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      B9-4 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  2. CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE (POWER SOURCE OF IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the ignition coil assembly connectors.

      (to Ignition Coil Assembly)
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      B12-1 (+B) - B12-4 (GND) Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
      B11-1 (+B) - B11-4 (GND) Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
      B10-1 (+B) - B10-4 (GND) Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
      B9-1 (+B) - B9-4 (GND) Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V

    Result: 

    NG

    OK

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the ignition coil assembly connectors.
    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B12-2 (IGF) - B77-51 (IGF1) Always Below 1 Ω
      B11-2 (IGF) - B77-51 (IGF1) Always Below 1 Ω
      B10-2 (IGF) - B77-51 (IGF1) Always Below 1 Ω
      B9-2 (IGF) - B77-51 (IGF1) Always Below 1 Ω
      B12-3 (IGT1) - B77-57 (IGT1) Always Below 1 Ω
      B11-3 (IGT2) - B77-56 (IGT2) Always Below 1 Ω
      B10-3 (IGT3) - B77-55 (IGT3) Always Below 1 Ω
      B9-3 (IGT4) - B77-54 (IGT4) Always Below 1 Ω
      B12-3 (IGT1) or B77-57 (IGT1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B11-3 (IGT2) or B77-56 (IGT2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B10-3 (IGT3) or B77-55 (IGT3) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B9-3 (IGT4) or B77-54 (IGT4) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B12-2 (IGF), B11-2 (IGF), B10-2 (IGF), B9-2 (IGF) or B77-51 (IGF1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS (DTC P0351, P0352, P0353 OR P0354) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Clear the DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [12/2012 - ]

      Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Clear DTCs 

    5. Shuffle the arrangement of the ignition coil assemblies (among No. 1 to No. 4 cylinders).
      NOTE:

      Do not change the location of the connectors.

    6. Perform a simulation test.
    7. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
    8. Read the DTCs.

      Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Same DTC output A
      Different ignition coil DTC output B

      HINT: 

      Perform "Inspection After Repair" after replacing the ignition coil assembly.

      Refer to INITIALIZATION [12/2012 - ]

    Result: 

    REPLACE ECM:  REMOVAL [12/2012 - ] 

    Result: 

    REPLACE IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY:  REMOVAL [12/2012 - ] 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (IG2 RELAY - IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the ignition coil assembly connectors.
    2. Remove the IG2 relay from the engine room relay block and junction block assembly.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B12-1 (+B) - IG2 relay terminal 5 Always Below 1 Ω
      B11-1 (+B) - IG2 relay terminal 5 Always Below 1 Ω
      B10-1 (+B) - IG2 relay terminal 5 Always Below 1 Ω
      B9-1 (+B) - IG2 relay terminal 5 Always Below 1 Ω
      B12-1 (+B), B11-1 (+B), B10-1 (+B), B9-1 (+B) or IG2 relay terminal 5 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    Result: 

    OK 

    GO TO ECM POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT:  ECM Power Source Circuit [12/2012 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
