DTC P0037, P0038, P0141, P102D; Oxygen Sensor Heater Control Circuit Low (Bank 1 Sensor 2) [11/2013 - 08/2014]: Procedure

  1. INSPECT HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (HEATER RESISTANCE) 
    1. Inspect the heated oxygen sensor.

      Refer to INSPECTION [12/2012 - ]

      HINT: 

      Perform "Inspection After Repair" after replacing the heated oxygen sensor.

      Refer to INITIALIZATION [12/2012 - ]

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR:  REMOVAL [12/2012 - ] 

    Result: 

    OK

  2. CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE (POWER SOURCE OF HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR) 
    1. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor connector.

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Heated Oxygen Sensor)
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      B25-2 (+B) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V

    Result: 

    NG

    Result: 

    OK

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor connector.
    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B25-1 (HT1B) - B77-24 (HT1B) Always Below 1 Ω
      B25-1 (HT1B) or B77-24 (HT1B) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS (DTC P0037, P0038, P0141 OR P102D) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Clear the DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [12/2012 - ]

      Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Clear DTCs 

    5. Turn the ignition switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.
    6. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    7. Turn the Techstream on.
    8. Drive the vehicle in accordance with the driving pattern described in Confirmation Driving Pattern.
    9. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
    10. Read the pending DTCs.

      Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC is not output A
      DTC P0037, P0038, P0141 or P102D is output B

    Result: 

    CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS:  CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS [12/2012 - ] 

    Result: 

    REPLACE ECM:  REMOVAL [12/2012 - ] 

  5. INSPECT EFI-MAIN NO. 2 RELAY 
    1. Inspect the EFI-MAIN No. 2 relay.

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE EFI-MAIN NO. 2 RELAY 

    Result: 

    OK

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (EFI-MAIN NO. 2 RELAY - HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR, EFI-MAIN NO. 1 RELAY) 
    1. Remove the EFI-MAIN NO. 2 relay from the engine room relay block and junction block assembly.
    2. Remove the EFI-MAIN NO. 1 relay from the engine room relay block and junction block assembly.
    3. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor connector.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      EFI-MAIN NO. 2 relay terminal 3 - B25-2 (+B) Always Below 1 Ω
      EFI-MAIN NO. 2 relay terminal 1 - EFI-MAIN NO. 1 relay terminal 3 Always Below 1 Ω
      EFI-MAIN NO. 2 relay terminal 2 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      EFI-MAIN NO. 2 relay terminal 3 or B25-2 (+B) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      EFI-MAIN NO. 2 relay terminal 1 or EFI-MAIN NO. 1 relay terminal 3 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  7. CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE (POWER SOURCE OF EFI-MAIN NO. 2 RELAY)

    Result: 

    OK 

    GO TO ECM POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT:  ECM Power Source Circuit [12/2012 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (BATTERY - EFI-MAIN NO. 2 RELAY)
