DRL Relay Circuit [10/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT) 
    1. Using the Techstream, perform the Active Test.

      Refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST [12/2012 - ] .

      Body Electrical > Main Body > Active Test

      Result Proceed to
      Daytime running lights come on
      Daytime running lights does not come on

    Result: 

    Daytime running lights come on 

    PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [10/2015 - ]  . 

    Result: 

    Daytime running lights does not come on

  2. CHECK VEHICLE TYPE 
    1. Check vehicle type.
      Result Proceed to
      for Halogen Headlight A
      for LED Headlight B

    Result:

  3. INSPECT RUNNING LIGHT RELAY 
    1. Remove the running light relay from the No. 1 engine room relay block and junction block assembly.
    2. Inspect the running light relay.

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4 .

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE RUNNING LIGHT RELAY 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RUNNING LIGHT RELAY - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Remove the running light relay from the No. 1 engine room relay block and junction block assembly.

      (to Running Light Relay)
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Running light relay terminal 6 (+B) - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Running light relay terminal 3 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RUNNING LIGHT RELAY - INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Remove the running light relay from the No. 1 engine room relay block and junction block assembly.
    2. Disconnect the 3B instrument panel junction block assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Running light relay terminal 2 (DRLS) - 3D-51 Always Below 1 Ω
      3D-51 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  6. INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the instrument panel junction block assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [12/2012 - ] .

    2. Remove the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) from the instrument panel junction block assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [12/2012 - ] .

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A-25 (DRL) - 3D-51 Always Below 1 Ω

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU). Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2012 - ]  . 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2012 - ]  . 

  7. INSPECT RUNNING LIGHT RELAY (DRL) 
    1. Remove the running light relay from the No. 1 engine room relay block and junction block assembly.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      3 - 5 Battery voltage applied between terminals 1 and 2 Below 1 Ω
      3 - 5 Battery voltage not applied between terminals 1 and 2 10 kΩ or higher

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE RUNNING LIGHT RELAY (DRL) 

    Result: 

    OK

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RUNNING LIGHT RELAY [DRL] - BATTERY) 
    1. Remove the running light relay from the No. 1 engine room relay block and junction block assembly.

      (to Running Light Relay)
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Running light relay terminal 5 - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V
      Running light relay terminal 1 - Body ground

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RUNNING LIGHT RELAY [DRL] - INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Remove the running light relay from the No. 1 engine room relay block and junction block assembly.
    2. Disconnect the 3B instrument panel junction block assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Running light relay terminal 2 - 3B-52 Always Below 1 Ω
      3B-52 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  10. INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the instrument panel junction block assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [12/2012 - ] .

    2. Remove the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) from the instrument panel junction block assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [12/2012 - ] .

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A-7 (DRLE) - 3B-52 Always Below 1 Ω

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU). Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2012 - ]  . 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2012 - ]  .
