Speedometer Malfunction [08/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM 
    1. Check if CAN communication DTCs are output. Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [08/2015 - ] .

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      CAN communication DTCs are not output. A
      CAN communication DTCs are output. B

    B → Refer to   7 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (SPEED METER OPERATION) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Active Test.
    5. Perform the Active Test according to the display on the Techstream.

      • *1: for Speedometer with Imperial units for main scale

  3. CHECK BRAKE CONTROL SYSTEM 
    1. Check if the brake control system outputs DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2015 - ] .

      Result

      DTCs are not output. A
      DTCs are output. B

    B → Refer to   9 

    A: Go to next step 

  4. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (VEHICLE SPEED, VEHICLE SPEED METER) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus:
      1. for ABS/VSC/TRAC: Chassis / ABS/VSC/TRAC / Data List.
      2. for Combination Meter: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Data List.
    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.
      ABS/VSC/TRAC

      HINT: 

      • When the Data List values of the ECUs match, an internal malfunction of the combination meter sub-assembly is suspected.
      • When the Data List values of the ECUs do not match, a signal output error of the skid control ECU or an internal malfunction of the combination meter sub-assembly is suspected.

  5. REPLACE METER CIRCUIT PLATE 
    1. Replace the meter circuit plate with a new or a known good one. Refer to DISASSEMBLY [08/2015 - ] .

      OK

      The operation of the speedometer returns to normal.

    NG → Refer to   10 

    OK → END 

  6. REPLACE COMBINATION METER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Replace the combination meter sub-assembly with a new or a known good one. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] .

      OK

      The operation of the speedometer returns to normal.

    NG → Refer to   10 

    OK → END 

  7. GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [08/2015 - ] 
  8. REPLACE METER CIRCUIT PLATE. Refer to  DISASSEMBLY [08/2015 - ] 
  9. GO TO BRAKE CONTROL SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [08/2015 - ] 
  10. REPLACE SKID CONTROL ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] 
  11. REPLACE COMBINATION METER SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2015 - ]
