Fuel Receiver Gauge Malfunction [08/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (FUEL METER OPERATION) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Active Test.
    5. Perform the Active Test according to the display on the Techstream.
      COMBINATION METER

      Fuel Meter Operation Fuel receiver gauge Empty, 1/2, Full -

      OK

      Fuel receiver gauge indication is normal.

      RESULT

      Result Proceed to

      NG (w/o Multi-information display) B

    B → Refer to   5 

    C → Refer to   7 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (FUEL INPUT) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Data List.
    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.
      COMBINATION METER

      39.6 to 45

      5th segment comes on:
      19.4 to 23.6

      15.3 to 19.4
      3rd segment comes on:
      12.1 to 15.3
      2nd segment comes on:
      8.1 to 12.1
      1st segment comes on:
      5.1 to 8.1

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Fuel level displayed on the Techstream is almost the same as fuel receiver gauge indication. A
      Fuel level displayed on the Techstream differs from the fuel receiver gauge indication (w/o Multi-information display). B
      Fuel level displayed on the Techstream differs from the fuel receiver gauge indication (w/ Multi-information display). C

    B → Refer to   5 

    C → Refer to   7 

    A: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMBINATION METER SUB-ASSEMBLY - FUEL SENDER GAUGE ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the L27 and R11 connectors.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L27-12 (L) - R11-2 (FS) Always Below 1 Ω
      L27-13 (ES 2) - R11-3 (FE) Always Below 1 Ω
      L27-12 (L) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      L27-13 (ES 2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. INSPECT FUEL SENDER GAUGE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the fuel sender gauge assembly. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] .
    2. Inspect the fuel sender gauge assembly. Refer to INSPECTION [08/2015 - ] .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      OK (w/o Multi-information display) A
      OK (w/ Multi-information display) B
      NG C

    B → Refer to   7 

    C → Refer to   6 

    A → Refer to   5 

  5. REPLACE METER CIRCUIT PLATE. Refer to  DISASSEMBLY [08/2015 - ] 
  6. REPLACE FUEL SENDER GAUGE ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] 
  7. REPLACE COMBINATION METER SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2015 - ]
