Speed Signal Circuit [08/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. INSPECT ECU TERMINAL VOLTAGE (INPUT VOLTAGE) 
    1. Disconnect the L27 connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified 0Condition
      L27-15 (+S) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) 4.5 to 14 V

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Combination Meter Sub-assembly)

      HINT: 

      If any of the ECUs specified in the wiring diagram supplies power to the combination meter sub-assembly, the combination meter sub-assembly will output a waveform.

    NG → Refer to   5 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. INSPECT COMBINATION METER SUB-ASSEMBLY (OUTPUT VOLTAGE) 
    1. Reconnect the L27 connector.
    2. Disconnect the A58 connector.

    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A58-11 (SP1) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

      (to Skid Control ECU)

    NG → Refer to   4 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. INSPECT SKID CONTROL ECU (INPUT WAVEFORM) 
    1. Check the input waveform.

      1. Reconnect the A58 connector.
      2. Remove the combination meter sub-assembly with the connector(s) still connected.
      3. Connect an oscilloscope to terminal L27-16 (SI) and body ground.
      4. Turn the power switch on (IG).
      5. Turn a wheel slowly.
      6. Check the signal waveform according to the condition(s) in the table below.
        Item Condition
        Tool setting 5 V/DIV., 20 ms./DIV.

        OK

        The waveform is displayed as shown in the illustration.

        HINT: 

        When the system is functioning normally, one wheel revolution generates 4 pulses. As the vehicle speed increases, the width indicated by (A) in the illustration narrows.

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMBINATION METER SUB-ASSEMBLY - SKID CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the L27 connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A58-11 (SP1) - L27-16 (SI) Always Below 1 Ω
      A58-11 (SP1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      OK (w/o Multi-information display) A
      OK (w/ Multi-information display) B
      NG C

    B → Refer to   28 

    C → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    A → Refer to   18 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMBINATION METER SUB-ASSEMBLY - JUNCTION CONNECTOR) 
    1. Disconnect the L70 junction connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L27-15 (+S) - L70-32 Always Below 1 Ω
      L27-15 (+S) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (JUNCTION CONNECTOR) 
    1. Inspect for a short in the circuit that is connected to the junction block connector shown in the wiring diagram.

      HINT: 

      If voltage is not present, it is possible that an ECU or circuit has a malfunction. The malfunctioning ECU or circuit will be diagnosed in the following steps.

      1. Disconnect the L70 connector.

      2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Voltage

        L70-1 - Body ground Power switch on (IG) 4.5 to 14 V
        L70-2 - Body ground Power switch on (IG) 4.5 to 14 V
        L70-3 - Body ground Power switch on (IG) 4.5 to 14 V

        L70-21 - Body ground Power switch on (IG) 4.5 to 14 V
        L70-22 - Body ground Power switch on (IG) 4.5 to 14 V

        L70-31 - Body ground Power switch on (IG) 4.5 to 14 V

    1. Select the circuit for which voltage was not present in step 6.

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TIRE PRESSURE WARNING ECU CIRCUIT, TIRE PRESSURE WARNING ECU AND RECEIVER CIRCUIT) 
    1. Disconnect the L4*1 or R35*2 connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L4-2 (SPD)*1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      R35-2 (SPD)*2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      • *1: w/ Vehicle proximity notification system

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) CIRCUIT) 
    1. Disconnect the L19 connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L19-10 (SPDP) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → Refer to   26 

  10. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (VEHICLE APPROACHING SPEAKER CONTROLLER CIRCUIT) 
    1. Disconnect the L130 connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L130-6 (SPD) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → Refer to   23 

  11. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU CIRCUIT) 
    1. Disconnect the L5 connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L5-14 (SPDI) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → Refer to   20 

  12. SYSTEM CHECK 
    1. Select the circuit for which voltage was not present in step 6.

      Result

  13. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HEADLIGHT LEVELING ECU ASSEMBLY CIRCUIT) 
    1. Disconnect the A48 connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      A48-16 (SPDR) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → Refer to   25 

  14. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY CIRCUIT) 
    1. Disconnect the L31 connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L31-11 (SPD) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → Refer to   22 

  15. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NAVIGATION RECEIVER ASSEMBLY CIRCUIT, RADIO AND DISPLAY RECEIVER ASSEMBLY CIRCUIT) 
    1. Disconnect the L38*1 or L35*2 connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L38-17 (SPD)*1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      L35-17 (SPD)*2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      • *1: for Navigation receiver type
      • *2: for Radio and display type

    1. Disconnect the L169 connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      L169-24 (SPD) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → Refer to   27 

  17. REPLACE SKID CONTROL ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] 
  18. REPLACE METER CIRCUIT PLATE. Refer to  DISASSEMBLY [08/2015 - ] 
  19. REPLACE TIRE PRESSURE WARNING ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] 
  20. REPLACE POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] 
  21. REPLACE NAVIGATION RECEIVER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] 
  22. REPLACE STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] 
  23. REPLACE VEHICLE APPROACHING SPEAKER CONTROLLER. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] 
  24. REPLACE RADIO AND DISPLAY RECEIVER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] 
  25. REPLACE HEADLIGHT LEVELING ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] 
  26. REPLACE DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER). Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] 
  27. REPLACE WINDSHIELD WIPER RELAY ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2015 - ]
