Headlight Solenoid Circuit [08/2015 - ]: Procedure
- PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the power switch on (IG).
- Turn the Techstream on.
- Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Main Body / Active Test.
- Check the operation.MAIN BODY
Tester Display Test Part Control Range Diagnostic Note Head Light Hi Dimmer relay (High beam headlights) ON/OFF - OK
The high beam headlights illuminate.
NG → Refer to 2
OK → Refer to 7
- CHECK DIM RELAY
- Inspect the DIM relay. Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION [08/2015 - ] .
NG → REPLACE DIM RELAY
OK: Go to next step
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DIM RELAY POWER SOURCE)
- Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Voltage
Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition Relay Terminal 2 - Body ground Power switch off 11 to 14 V Relay Terminal 5 - Body ground Power switch off 11 to 14 V
NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK: Go to next step
- Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DIM RELAY - INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK)
- Disconnect the 2C instrument panel junction block assembly connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance
Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition Relay Terminal 1 - 2C-22 Always Below 1 Ω 2C-22 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK: Go to next step
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DIM RELAY - HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY)
- Disconnect the A79 headlight assembly LH connector.
- Disconnect the A81 headlight assembly RH connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance
Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition Relay Terminal 3 - A79-2 (SOL) Always Below 1 Ω Relay Terminal 3 - A81-2 (SOL) Always Below 1 Ω Relay Terminal 3 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK: Go to next step
- CHECK INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY
- Remove the instrument panel junction block assembly. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] .
- Remove the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) from the instrument panel junction block assembly. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ]

- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance
Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 2C-22 - MB-22 (DIM) Always Below 1 Ω 2C-22 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION*a Component without harness connected
(Instrument Panel Junction Block Assembly)
NG → REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY
OK → REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY)
