On-Vehicle Inspection [06/2017 - ]: Procedure

  1. INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Check speedometer operation.
      NOTE:
      • The combination meter assembly receives the vehicle speed signal from the brake booster with master cylinder assembly (skid control ECU) via CAN communication. Therefore, perform the following inspection referring to values on the Data List of the brake booster with master cylinder assembly (skid control ECU) because it is the source of the vehicle speed signal.
      • The Data List values of the brake booster with master cylinder assembly (skid control ECU) are used for this inspection. Therefore, make sure to perform the inspection after confirming that no DTCs are output.
      • If the tire size or tire inflation pressure is not within the specified range, or the tires are excessively worn, the speedometer indication error will increase. Therefore, make sure to perform the inspection after checking that the tire size, tire inflation pressure and tire wear are in the specified range.
      1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
      2. Turn the ignition switch ON (IG).
      3. Turn the Techstream on.
      4. Enter the following menus: Chassis / ABS/VSC/TRAC / Data List.
      5. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.

    2. Check LED illumination (LED check)
      1. Check the illumination function of the warning or indicator lights listed below when turning the ignition switch to ON (IG).

        Warning or Indicator Light Specified Condition
        Tire pressure warning light Warning or indicator light comes on for about 3 seconds after turning the ignition switch to ON (IG).
        Master warning light
        VSC OFF indicator light
        PCS warning light*
        SRS warning light Warning light comes on for about 6 seconds after turning the ignition switch to ON (IG).
        EPS warning light Warning light comes on when turning the ignition switch to ON (IG).
        MIL (Check engine warning light)
        Brake warning light / red (malfunction)
        • Warning or indicator light comes on for about 3 seconds when turning the ignition switch from off to ON (READY).
        • Warning or indicator light comes on turning the ignition switch to ON (IG).

          HINT: 

          If the ignition switch is turned to ON (READY) 3 seconds or more after the ignition switch is turned to ON (IG), these warning and indicator lights will turn off when the ready indicator light illuminates.
        Slip indicator light
