DTC B1828-56: Short to B+ in Side Squib LH Circuit [06/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK CONNECTORS 
    1. Turn the power switch off.

      *1 Front Seat Airbag Assembly LH
      *2 Airbag Sensor Assembly
      *3 Floor Wire
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    3. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the front seat airbag assembly LH and airbag sensor assembly.

      OK

      The connectors are properly connected.

      HINT: 

      If the connectors are not properly connected, reconnect the connectors and proceed to the next inspection.

    4. Disconnect the connectors from the front seat airbag assembly LH and airbag sensor assembly.
    5. Check that the terminals of the connectors are not damaged.

      OK

      The terminals are not deformed or damaged.

    6. Check that the short spring for the floor wire with the activation prevention mechanism is not deformed or damaged.

      OK

      The short spring is not deformed or damaged.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE FLOOR WIRE 

    Result: 

    OK

  2. CHECK FLOOR WIRE 
    1. Check for a short to B+ in the circuit.

      *1 Front Seat Airbag Assembly LH
      *2 Airbag Sensor Assembly
      *3 Floor Wire
      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Front Seat Airbag Assembly LH)
      1. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
      2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
      3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Voltage

        Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
        P2-1 (SFL+) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
        P2-2 (SFL-) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE FLOOR WIRE 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. CHECK DTC 
    1. Turn the power switch off.

      *1 Front Seat Airbag Assembly LH
      *2 Airbag Sensor Assembly
      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Front Seat Airbag Assembly LH)
      *b Service Wire
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    3. Connect the connectors to the airbag sensor assembly.
    4. Using a service wire, connect terminals 1 (SFL+) and 2 (SFL-) of connector C.
      NOTE:

      Do not forcibly insert the service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting the wire.

    5. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    6. Turn the power switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    7. Clear the DTCs stored in memory.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [06/2015 - ]

      Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Clear DTCs 

    8. Turn the power switch off.
    9. Turn the power switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    10. Check for DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [06/2015 - ]

      Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Trouble Codes 

      OK

      DTC B1828/56 is not output.

      HINT: 

      Codes other than DTC B1828/56 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

    11. Turn the power switch off.
    12. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    13. Disconnect the service wire from connector C.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2015 - 11/2018]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [11/2018 - ] 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. CHECK DTC 
    1. Connect the connectors to the front seat airbag assembly LH.

      *1 Front Seat Airbag Assembly LH
      *2 Airbag Sensor Assembly
    2. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    3. Turn the power switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    4. Clear the DTCs stored in memory.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [06/2015 - ]

      Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Clear DTCs 

    5. Turn the power switch off.
    6. Turn the power switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    7. Check for DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [06/2015 - ]

      Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Trouble Codes 

      OK

      DTC B1828/56 is not output.

      HINT: 

      Codes other than DTC B1828/56 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

      Result

      Proceed to

      NG

    Result: 

    OK
