DTC P0351: Ignition Coil "A" Primary / Secondary Circuit; DTC P0352: Ignition Coil "B" Primary / Secondary Circuit; DTC P0353: Ignition Coil "C" Primary / Secondary Circuit; DTC P0354: Ignition Coil "D" Primary / Secondary Circuit; DTC P0355: Ignition Coil "E" Primary / Secondary Circuit; DTC P0356: Ignition Coil "F" Primary / Secondary Circuit [11/2016 - ]: Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. READ OUTPUT DTCS (DTC P0351, P0352, P0353, P0354, P0355 OR P0356) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Clear the DTCs.

      Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Clear DTCs 

    5. Turn the power switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.
    6. Shuffle the arrangement of the ignition coil assemblies (among No. 1 to No. 6 cylinders).
      NOTE:

      Do not change the location of the connectors.

    7. Perform a simulation test.
    8. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
    9. Read the DTCs.

      Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Same DTC output A
      Different ignition coil DTC output B

      HINT: 

      Perform "Inspection After Repair" after replacing the ignition coil assembly.

      Refer to INITIALIZATION [11/2016 - ]

    REPLACE IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2016 - ]

  2. CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE (POWER SOURCE OF IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY)

    (to Ignition Coil Assembly)
    1. Disconnect the ignition coil assembly connector.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C65-1 (+B) - C65-4 (GND) Power switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      C66-1 (+B) - C66-4 (GND) Power switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      C67-1 (+B) - C67-4 (GND) Power switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      C68-1 (+B) - C68-4 (GND) Power switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      C69-1 (+B) - C69-4 (GND) Power switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      C70-1 (+B) - C70-4 (GND) Power switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the ignition coil assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C65-3 (IGT1) - C1-7 (IGT1) Always Below 1 Ω
      C66-3 (IGT2) - C1-6 (IGT2) Always Below 1 Ω
      C67-3 (IGT3) - C1-37 (IGT3) Always Below 1 Ω
      C68-3 (IGT4) - C1-36 (IGT4) Always Below 1 Ω
      C69-3 (IGT5) - C1-67 (IGT5) Always Below 1 Ω
      C70-3 (IGT6) - C1-66 (IGT6) Always Below 1 Ω
      C65-2 (IGF1) - C1-65 (IGF1) Always Below 1 Ω
      C66-2 (IGF2) - C1-64 (IGF2) Always Below 1 Ω

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the ignition coil assembly connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C65-4 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      C66-4 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      C67-4 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      C68-4 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      C69-4 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      C70-4 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SEMICONDUCTOR PWR INTEGRATION ECU - IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the semiconductor pwr integration ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the ignition coil assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1G-3 - C65-1 (+B) Always Below 1 Ω
      1G-3 - C66-1 (+B) Always Below 1 Ω
      1G-3 - C67-1 (+B) Always Below 1 Ω
      1G-3 - C68-1 (+B) Always Below 1 Ω
      1G-3 - C69-1 (+B) Always Below 1 Ω
      1G-3 - C70-1 (+B) Always Below 1 Ω
      1G-3 or C65-1 (+B) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
      1G-3 or C66-1 (+B) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
