VC Output Circuit [02/2014 - 11/2016]: Procedure

  1. CHECK MIL 
    1. Check that the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illuminates when the power switch is turned on (IG).

      OK

      MIL lights up.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:  1

    OK 

    PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [02/2014 - 11/2016] 

    Result:  2

    NG

  2. CHECK CONNECTION BETWEEN TECHSTREAM AND ECM 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Check the communication between the Techstream and ECM.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Communication is not possible A
      Communication is possible B

    Result:  2

    GO TO MIL CIRCUIT. Refer to  MIL Circuit [02/2014 - 11/2016]

  3. CHECK MIL (THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR) 
    1. Disconnect the throttle body with motor assembly connector.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Check the MIL.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      MIL does not illuminate A
      MIL illuminates B

      HINT: 

      Perform "Inspection After Repair" after replacing the throttle body with motor assembly.

      Refer to INITIALIZATION [02/2014 - 11/2016]

    Result:  2

    REPLACE THROTTLE BODY WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [02/2014 - 11/2016]

  4. CHECK MIL (VVT SENSOR (BANK 1)) 
    1. Disconnect the VVT sensor (bank 1) connector.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Check the MIL.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      MIL does not illuminate A
      MIL illuminates B

    Result:  2

    REPLACE VVT SENSOR (BANK 1). Refer to  REMOVAL [02/2014 - 11/2016] 

    Result:  1

  5. CHECK MIL (VVT SENSOR (BANK 2)) 
    1. Disconnect the VVT sensor (bank 2) connector.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Check the MIL.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      MIL does not illuminate A
      MIL illuminates B

    Result:  2

    REPLACE VVT SENSOR (BANK 2). Refer to  REMOVAL [02/2014 - 11/2016]

  6. CHECK MIL (MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE SENSOR) 
    1. Disconnect the manifold absolute pressure sensor connector.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Check the MIL.

      Result

      MIL does not illuminate A
      MIL illuminates B

    Result:  2

    REPLACE MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE SENSOR. Refer to  REMOVAL [02/2014 - 11/2016]

  7. CHECK MIL (CANISTER PUMP MODULE) 
    1. Disconnect the canister pump module connector.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Check the MIL.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      MIL does not illuminate A
      MIL illuminates B

    Result:  2

    REPLACE CANISTER PUMP MODULE. Refer to  REMOVAL [02/2014 - 11/2016]

  8. CHECK MIL (FUEL TANK PRESSURE SENSOR) 
    1. Disconnect the fuel tank pressure sensor connector.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Check the MIL

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      MIL does not illuminate A
      MIL illuminates B

    Result:  2

    REPLACE FUEL TANK PRESSURE SENSOR. Refer to  REMOVAL [02/2014 - 11/2016]

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (VC CIRCUIT) 
    1. Disconnect the throttle body with motor assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the VVT sensor (bank 1) connector.
    3. Disconnect the VVT sensor (bank 2) connector.
    4. Disconnect the canister pump module connector.
    5. Disconnect the fuel tank pressure sensor connector.
    6. Disconnect the ECM connector.
    7. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C41-5 (VC) or C1-118 (VCTA) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      C35-3 (VC) or C1-78 (VCV1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      C36-3 (VC) or C1-79 (VCV2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      C57-3 (VC) or C1-88 (VPIM) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      c1-3 (VC) or A43-55 (VC) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      M11-6 (VCC) or A43-54 (VCPP) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    REPLACE ECM. Refer to  REMOVAL [02/2014 - 11/2016]
