Fuel Pump Control Circuit [02/2014 - 11/2016]: Procedure

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (CONTROL THE FUEL PUMP / SPEED) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch to on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test / Control the Fuel Pump / Speed.

      Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Active Test 

      Tester Display
      Control the Fuel Pump / Speed
    5. Check whether fuel pump operating sounds can be heard while operating the fuel pump using the Techstream.

      OK

      Operating sounds can be heard from the fuel pump.

      Result

      Proceed to

      NG

    Result:  1

  2. INSPECT RELAY (FUEL PMP RELAY) 
    1. Inspect the FUEL PMP relay.

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

    REPLACE RELAY (FUEL PMP RELAY) 

    Result:  1

  3. INSPECT FUEL PUMP RESISTOR 
    1. Inspect the fuel pump resistor.

      Refer to INSPECTION [02/2014 - 11/2016]

      Result

      Proceed to

      NG

    Result:  2

    NG 

    REPLACE FUEL PUMP RESISTOR. Refer to  REMOVAL [02/2014 - 11/2016] 

    Result:  1

    OK

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FUEL PMP RELAY - FUEL PUMP RESISTOR) 
    1. Remove the FUEL PMP relay from the No. 1 engine room relay block and No. 1 junction block assembly.
    2. Disconnect the fuel pump resistor connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      5 (FUEL PMP relay terminal) - A14-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      4 (FUEL PMP relay terminal) - A14-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      5 (FUEL PMP relay terminal) or A14-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      4 (FUEL PMP relay terminal) or A14-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:  1

    OK 

    PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [02/2014 - 11/2016]

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  5. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (OPERATE C/OPN RELAY) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test / Control the Fuel Pump / Speed.

      Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Active Test 

      Tester Display
      Control the Fuel Pump / Speed
    5. Check the operation of the relay while operating it using the Techstream.

      OK

      Operating noise can be heard from the C/OPN relay.

      Result

  6. INSPECT FUEL PUMP 
    1. Inspect the fuel pump.

      Refer to INSPECTION [02/2014 - 11/2016]

      HINT: 

      Perform "Inspection After Repair" after replacing the fuel pump.

      Refer to INITIALIZATION [02/2014 - 11/2016]

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FUEL PUMP - FUEL PMP RELAY) 
    1. Disconnect the fuel pump connector.
    2. Remove the FUEL PMP relay from the No. 1 engine room relay block and No. 1 junction block assembly.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      c2-4 (B) - 4 (FUEL PMP relay terminal) Always Below 1 Ω
      c2-4 (B) or 4 (FUEL PMP relay terminal) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (C/OPN RELAY - FUEL PMP RELAY) 
    1. Remove the C/OPN relay from the No. 1 engine room relay block and No. 1 junction block assembly.
    2. Remove the FUEL PMP relay from the No. 1 engine room relay block and No. 1 junction block assembly.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      3 (C/OPN relay terminal) - 2 (FUEL PMP relay terminal) Always Below 1 Ω
      3 (C/OPN relay terminal) - 3 (FUEL PMP relay terminal) Always Below 1 Ω
      3 (C/OPN relay terminal) or 2 (FUEL PMP relay terminal) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      3 (C/OPN relay terminal) or 3 (FUEL PMP relay terminal) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  10. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FUEL PMP RELAY - FUEL PUMP RESISTOR) 
    1. Remove the FUEL PMP relay from the No. 1 engine room relay block and No. 1 junction block assembly.
    2. Disconnect the fuel pump resistor connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      5 (FUEL PMP relay terminal) or A14-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      4 (FUEL PMP relay terminal) or A14-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

    REPLACE ECM. Refer to  REMOVAL [02/2014 - 11/2016]

    1. Inspect the C/OPN relay.

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  12. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (C/OPN RELAY - SEMICONDUCTOR PWR INTEGRATION ECU) 
    1. Remove the C/OPN relay from the No. 1 engine room relay block and No. 1 junction block assembly.
    2. Disconnect the semiconductor pwr integration ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      5 (C/OPN relay terminal) - 1G-8 Always Below 1 Ω
      1 (C/OPN relay terminal) - 1G-4 Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to

      NG

    Result:  2

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  13. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (C/OPN RELAY - ECM) 
    1. Remove the C/OPN relay from the No. 1 engine room relay block and No. 1 junction block assembly.
    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      2 (C/OPN relay terminal) - A43-8 (FC) Always Below 1 Ω
      2 (C/OPN relay terminal) or A43-8 (FC) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
