Engine Switch Illumination Circuit [11/2016 - ]: Procedure

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Smart Key / Active Test.
    5. Perform the Active Test according to the display on the Techstream.

      Body Electrical > Smart Key > Active Test 

      Tester Display Measurement Item Control Range Diagnostic Note
      Power/Engine SW Light Engine switch illumination OFF or ON When performing this Active Test, make sure the following condition is met:
      The engine switch illumination is off (15 seconds or more have elapsed since it turned from on to off) and the ignition switch is ON or ACC, or the engine is running.

      Body Electrical > Smart Key > Active Test 

      Tester Display
      Power/Engine SW Light

      OK

      Engine switch illumination comes on.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:  1

    OK 

    PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [12/2013 - ]  

    Result:  2

    NG

  2. INSPECT ENGINE SWITCH 
    1. Remove the engine switch.

      Refer to REMOVAL [11/2016 - ]

    2. Inspect the engine switch.

      Refer to INSPECTION [11/2016 - ]

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:  2

    NG 

    REPLACE ENGINE SWITCH. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2016 - ] 

    Result:  1

    OK

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ENGINE SWITCH - CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY)) 
    1. Disconnect the F13 certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F49-9 (SWIL) - F13-17 (SWIL) Always Below 1 Ω
      F49-6 (AGND) - F13-12 (AGND) Always Below 1 Ω
      F49-9 (SWIL) or F13-17 (SWIL) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F49-6 (AGND) or F13-12 (AGND) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:  1

    OK 

    REPLACE CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY). Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2013 - ] 

    Result:  2

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
