DTC B15C3: Speaker Output Short [08/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. CONFIRM MODEL 
    1. Choose the model to be inspected.

      Result

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NAVIGATION RECEIVER ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the I6 and I7 navigation receiver assembly connectors.
    2. Disconnect the I83 and I1 front No. 2 speaker assembly connectors.
    3. Disconnect the O18 and O21 rear speaker assembly connectors.
    4. Measure the resistance between the navigation receiver assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I6-1 (FR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I6-5 (FR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I6-2 (FL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I6-6 (FL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I7-1 (RR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I7-3 (RR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I7-2 (RL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I7-6 (RL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the J5 and K5 front No. 1 speaker assembly connectors.
    2. Disconnect the I83 and I1 front No. 2 speaker assembly connectors.
    3. Measure the resistance between each of the front No. 2 speaker assemblies and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I83-3 (+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I83-1 (-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I1-3 (+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I1-1 (-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. INSPECT FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the front No. 1 speaker assembly. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] .
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 2 Always 3.2 to 4.8 Ω

    NG → See step   20 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. INSPECT FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the front No. 2 speaker assembly. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] .
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      4 (TWR+) - 2 (TWR-) Always 10 kΩ or higher
      3 (+) - 4 (TWR+) Always Below 1 Ω
      1 (-) - 2 (TWR-) Always Below 1 Ω
      4 (TWL+) - 2 (TWL-) Always 10 kΩ or higher
      3 (+) - 4 (TWL+) Always Below 1 Ω
      1 (-) - 2 (TWL-) Always Below 1 Ω

    NG → See step   21 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. REPLACE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Replace the front No. 2 speaker assembly with a new or known good one. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] .
    2. Clear the DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2015 - ] .
    3. Recheck for DTCs and check that no DTCs are output.

      OK

      No DTCs are output.

      HINT: 

      • Connect all the connectors to the front No. 2 speaker assemblies that were disconnected.
      • When there is a possibility that either the right or left front No. 2 speaker assembly is defective, inspect by interchanging the right one with the left one.
      • Perform the above inspection on both the LH and RH side.

    NG → See step   7 

    OK → END 

  7. INSPECT REAR SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the rear speaker assembly. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] .
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      1 - 2 Always 3.2 to 4.8 Ω

  8. CONFIRM MODEL

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the I68 stereo component amplifier assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the I135 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector.
    3. Disconnect the K5 front No. 1 speaker assembly LH connector.
    4. Disconnect the I60 front No. 3 speaker assembly connector.
    5. Disconnect the O19 and O20 rear No. 2 speaker assembly connectors.
    6. Disconnect the O22 rear speaker assembly connector.
    7. Disconnect the I84 and I2 front No. 2 speaker assembly connectors.
    8. Measure the resistance between the stereo component amplifier assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      I68-15 (FR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I68-30 (FR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I68-11 (FL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      I68-13 (CTR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I68-28 (CTR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I68-10 (SR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I68-25 (SR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I68-9 (SL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  10. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the I135 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector.
    2. Disconnect the J5 front No. 1 speaker assembly RH connector.
    3. Measure the resistance between the DCM (telematics transceiver) and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I135-5 (SPO+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I135-6 (SPO-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  11. INSPECT DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) 
    1. Remove the DCM (telematics transceiver). Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] .
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      2 (SPI+) - 5 (SPO+) Always Below 1 Ω
      3 (SPI-) - 6 (SPO-) Always Below 1 Ω
      2 (SPI+) - 3 (SPI-) Always 10 kΩ or higher
      5 (SPO+) - 6 (SPO-) Always 10 kΩ or higher
      2 (SPI+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      3 (SPI-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    3. Proceed to the next step based on the inspection result.

  12. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the I68 stereo component amplifier assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the J5 and K5 front No. 1 speaker assembly connectors.
    3. Disconnect the I60 front No. 3 speaker assembly connector.
    4. Disconnect the O19 and O20 rear No. 2 speaker assembly connectors.
    5. Disconnect the O22 rear speaker assembly connector.
    6. Disconnect the I84 and I2 front No. 2 speaker assembly connectors.
    7. Measure the resistance between the stereo component amplifier assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I68-15 (FR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I68-30 (FR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I68-11 (FL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I68-26 (FL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I68-13 (CTR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I68-28 (CTR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  13. INSPECT FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the front No. 1 speaker assembly. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] .
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

  14. INSPECT FRONT NO. 3 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the front No. 3 speaker assembly. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] .
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  15. INSPECT REAR NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  16. INSPECT REAR SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the rear speaker assembly. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] .
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  17. INSPECT FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the front No. 2 speaker assembly. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] .
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      4 - 3 Always 3.4 to 5.2 Ω

  18. REPLACE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Replace the front No. 2 speaker assembly with a new or known good one. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] .
    2. Clear the DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2015 - ] .
    3. Recheck for DTCs and check that no DTCs are output.

      OK

      No DTCs are output.

      HINT: 

      • Connect all the connectors to the front No. 2 speaker assemblies that were disconnected.
      • When there is a possibility that either the right or left front No. 2 speaker assembly is defective, inspect by interchanging the right one with the left one.
      • Perform the above inspection on both the LH and RH side.

  23. REPLACE REAR SPEAKER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] 
  24. REPLACE FRONT NO. 3 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] 
  25. REPLACE REAR NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] 
  26. REPLACE STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2015 - ]
