Speaker Circuit [08/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. CONFIRM MODEL 
    1. Choose the model to be inspected.

  2. CHECK SPEAKER (OPERATION CHECK) 
    1. Enter the "System Check Mode" screen.

      Refer to Check Speaker in Operation Check. Refer to OPERATION CHECK [08/2015 - ] .

    2. Perform the operation check above and determine the speaker that is not operating.

      Result

      Not Operating Speaker Proceed to
      Front No. 1 speaker assembly or front No. 2 speaker assembly A
      Rear speaker assembly B

      HINT: 

      If sound cannot be heard from any speaker, inspect all of them.

    B → See step   7 

    A: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NAVIGATION RECEIVER ASSEMBLY - FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY - FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the I6 navigation receiver assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the I83 and I1 front No. 2 speaker assembly connectors.
    3. Disconnect the J5 and K5 front No. 1 speaker assembly connectors.
    4. Measure the resistance between the navigation receiver assembly and each of the front No. 2 speaker assemblies to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I6-1 (FR+) - I83-4 (TWR+) Always Below 1 Ω
      I6-5 (FR-) - I83-2 (TWR-) Always Below 1 Ω
      I6-2 (FL+) - I1-4 (TWL+) Always Below 1 Ω
      I6-6 (FL-) - I1-2 (TWL-) Always Below 1 Ω
    5. Measure the resistance between each of the front No. 2 speaker assemblies and the front No. 1 speaker assemblies to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I83-3 (+) - J5-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      I83-1 (-) - J5-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      I1-3 (+) - K5-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      I1-1 (-) - K5-2 Always Below 1 Ω
    6. Measure the resistance between the navigation receiver assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I6-1 (FR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I6-5 (FR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I6-2 (FL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I6-6 (FL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    7. Measure the resistance between each of the front No. 2 speaker assemblies and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I83-3 (+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I83-1 (-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I1-3 (+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I1-1 (-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. INSPECT FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the front No. 2 speaker assembly. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] .
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      4 (TWR+) - 2 (TWR-) Always 10 kΩ or higher
      3 (+) - 4 (TWR+) Always Below 1 Ω

      4 (TWL+) - 2 (TWL-) Always 10 kΩ or higher
      3 (+) - 4 (TWL+) Always Below 1 Ω

  5. REPLACE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Check that the malfunction disappears when a known good speaker is installed. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] .

      OK

      Malfunction disappears.

      HINT: 

      • Connect all the connectors to the front No. 2 speaker assemblies that were disconnected.
      • When there is a possibility that either the right or left front No. 2 speaker assembly is defective, inspect by interchanging the right one with the left one.
      • Perform the above inspection on both the LH and RH side.

    NG → See step   6 

    OK → END 

  6. INSPECT FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the front No. 1 speaker assembly. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] .
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NAVIGATION RECEIVER ASSEMBLY - REAR SPEAKER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the I7 navigation receiver assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the O18 and O21 rear speaker assembly connectors.
    3. Measure the resistance between the navigation receiver assembly and each of the rear speaker assemblies to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I7-1 (RR+) - O18-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      I7-3 (RR-) - O18-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      I7-2 (RL+) - O21-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      I7-6 (RL-) - O21-2 Always Below 1 Ω
    4. Measure the resistance between the navigation receiver assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I7-1 (RR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I7-3 (RR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I7-2 (RL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I7-6 (RL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  8. INSPECT REAR SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the rear speaker assembly. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] .
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

  9. CHECK SPEAKER (OPERATION CHECK) 
    1. Enter the "System Check Mode" screen.

      Refer to Check Speaker in Operation Check. Refer to OPERATION CHECK [08/2015 - ] .

    2. Perform the operation check above and determine the speaker that is not operating.

  10. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY - DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) - FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the I68 stereo component amplifier assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the I135 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector.
    3. Disconnect the J5 and K5 front No. 1 speaker assembly connectors.
    4. Measure the resistance between the stereo component amplifier assembly and the DCM (telematics transceiver) to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I68-15 (FR+) - I135-2 (SPI+) Always Below 1 Ω
      I68-30 (FR-) - I135-3 (SPI-) Always Below 1 Ω
    5. Measure the resistance between the DCM (telematics transceiver) and the front No. 1 speaker assembly RH to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I135-5 (SPO+) - J5-1 (+) Always Below 1 Ω
      I135-6 (SPO-) - J5-2 (-) Always Below 1 Ω
    6. Measure the resistance between the stereo component amplifier assembly and the front No. 1 speaker assembly LH to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I68-11 (FL+) - K5-1 (+) Always Below 1 Ω
      I68-26 (FL-) - K5-2 (-) Always Below 1 Ω
    7. Measure the resistance between the stereo component amplifier assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I68-15 (FR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I68-30 (FR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I68-11 (FL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I68-26 (FL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    8. Measure the resistance between the DCM (telematics transceiver) and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I135-5 (SPO+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I135-6 (SPO-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  11. INSPECT DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) 
    1. Remove the DCM (telematics transceiver). Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] .
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      2 (SPI+) - 5 (SPO+) Always Below 1 Ω
      3 (SPI-) - 6 (SPO-) Always Below 1 Ω
      2 (SPI+) - 3 (SPI-) Always 10 kΩ or higher
      5 (SPO+) - 6 (SPO-) Always 10 kΩ or higher
      2 (SPI+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      3 (SPI-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  12. INSPECT FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the front No. 1 speaker assembly. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] .
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  13. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY - FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the I68 stereo component amplifier assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the J5 and K5 front No. 1 speaker assembly connectors.
    3. Measure the resistance between the stereo component amplifier assembly and each of the front No. 1 speaker assemblies to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I68-15 (FR+) - J5-1 (+) Always Below 1 Ω
      I68-30 (FR-) - J5-2 (-) Always Below 1 Ω
      I68-11 (FL+) - K5-1 (+) Always Below 1 Ω

    4. Measure the resistance between the stereo component amplifier assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      I68-30 (FR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    OK: Go to next step 

  14. INSPECT FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the front No. 1 speaker assembly. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] .
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  15. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY - FRONT NO. 3 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the I68 stereo component amplifier assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the I60 front No. 3 speaker assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance between the stereo component amplifier assembly and the front No. 3 speaker assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I68-13 (CTR+) - I60-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      I68-28 (CTR-) - I60-1 Always Below 1 Ω
    4. Measure the resistance between the stereo component amplifier assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I68-13 (CTR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I68-28 (CTR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  16. INSPECT FRONT NO. 3 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the front No. 3 speaker assembly. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] .
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

  17. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY - FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the I68 stereo component amplifier assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the I84 and I2 front No. 2 speaker assembly connectors.
    3. Measure the resistance between the stereo component amplifier assembly and each of the front No. 2 speaker assemblies to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I68-12 (TWR+) - I84-4 Always Below 1 Ω
      I68-27 (TWR-) - I84-3 Always Below 1 Ω
      I68-14 (TWL+) - I2-4 Always Below 1 Ω
      I68-29 (TWL-) - I2-3 Always Below 1 Ω
    4. Measure the resistance between the stereo component amplifier assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I68-12 (TWR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I68-27 (TWR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I68-14 (TWL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I68-29 (TWL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  18. INSPECT FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the front No. 2 speaker assembly. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] .
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      4 - 3 Always 3.4 to 5.2 Ω

    OK: Go to next step 

  19. REPLACE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Check that the malfunction disappears when a known good speaker is installed. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] .

      OK

      Malfunction disappears.

      HINT: 

      • Connect all the connectors to the front No. 2 speaker assemblies that were disconnected.
      • When there is a possibility that either the right or left front No. 2 speaker assembly is defective, inspect by interchanging the right one with the left one.
      • Perform the above inspection on both the LH and RH side.

    NG → See step   26 

    OK → END 

  20. CHECK SPEAKER (OPERATION CHECK) 
    1. Enter the "System Check Mode" screen.

      Refer to Check Speaker in Operation Check. Refer to OPERATION CHECK [08/2015 - ] .

    2. Perform the operation check above and determine the speaker that is not operating.

  21. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY - REAR NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the I68 stereo component amplifier assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the O19 and O20 rear No. 2 speaker assembly connectors.
    3. Measure the resistance between the stereo component amplifier assembly and each of the rear No. 2 speaker assemblies to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I68-10 (SR+) - O19-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      I68-25 (SR-) - O19-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      I68-9 (SL+) - O20-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      I68-24 (SL-) - O20-1 Always Below 1 Ω
    4. Measure the resistance between the stereo component amplifier assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I68-10 (SR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I68-25 (SR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I68-9 (SL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  22. INSPECT REAR NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the rear No. 2 speaker assembly. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] .
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  23. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY - REAR SPEAKER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the I68 stereo component amplifier assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the O22 rear speaker assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance between the stereo component amplifier assembly and the rear speaker assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I68-8 (WF1+) - O22-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      I68-23 (WF1-) - O22-2 Always Below 1 Ω
    4. Measure the resistance between the stereo component amplifier assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I68-8 (WF1+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I68-23 (WF1-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  24. INSPECT REAR SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the rear speaker assembly. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] .
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
