DTC C1429: Open or Short in Brake Pedal Load Sensing Switch [08/2015 - 08/2019]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (BRAKE PEDAL LOAD SENSING SW)
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.
    2. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    4. Turn the Techstream on.
    5. Enter the following menus: Chassis / ABS/VSC/TRAC / Data List.
      ABS/VSC/TRAC

Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
Brake Pedal Load Sensing SW Brake pedal load sensing switch/ ON or OFF ON: Brake pedal depressed beyond specified point
OFF: Brake pedal not depressed beyond specified point
      -
    6. Check that the brake pedal load sensing switch display observed on the Techstream changes according to the brake pedal operation.

      OK

The Techstream displays ON or OFF according to brake pedal operation.

    NG

    See step  3

    Result:

    OK

    See step  2

  2. RECONFIRM DTC
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.
    2. Clear the DTCs (Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2015 - 08/2019] ).
    3. Start the engine.
    4. Perform a road and braking test.
    5. Check if the same DTC is output (Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2015 - 08/2019] ).
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      DTC is not output A
      DTC is output B

    Result:

    A

    USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK

(Refer to HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [08/2015 - 08/2019] )

    NOTE:
    • Do not remove the brake pedal load sensing switch from the brake with switch pedal sub-assembly.
    • When there is a malfunction in the brake pedal load sensing switch, replace the brake with switch pedal sub-assembly.
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.
    2. Make sure that there is no looseness in the locking part and connecting part of the connector.
    3. Disconnect the A55 brake pedal load sensing switch connector.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      2 (FSW+) - 1 (FSW-) Brake pedal depressed 0.9 to 1.1 kΩ
      Brake pedal released 192 to 234 Ω

    Result:

    NG

REPLACE BRAKE WITH SWITCH PEDAL SUB-ASSEMBLY

    (Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] )

    Result:

    OK

    See step  4

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY - BRAKE PEDAL LOAD SENSING SWITCH)
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness in the locking part and connecting part of the connector.
    2. Disconnect the A53 skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.
    3. Disconnect the A55 brake pedal load sensing switch connector.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A53-27 (FSW+) - A55-2 (FSW+) Always Below 1 Ω
A53-27 (FSW+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A55-1 (FSW-) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    Result:

    OK

    REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY

    (Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - 08/2019] )

    Result:

    NG

REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
