Removal [12/2012 - ]: Procedure
- PRECAUTION WARNING:
Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing.

NOTE:After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

- DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL WARNING:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
NOTE:When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

- REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER
- REMOVE STEERING PAD ASSEMBLY WARNING:
When storing the steering pad, keep the airbag deployment side facing upward.
- Check that the ignition switch is off.
- Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.WARNING:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
- Using a T30H "TORX" screwdriver, push in the 3 torsion springs to detach the 3 claws.NOTE:
- Do not drop the steering pad assembly.
- When disconnecting the steering pad, do not pull the airbag wire harness.
HINT:
Insert the T30H "TORX" screwdriver from the installation hole for the lower No. 2 steering wheel cover and 2 service holes.
*1 Torsion Spring *2 T30H "TORX" Screwdriver - Disconnect the horn connector from the steering pad assembly.
*1 Horn Connector *2 Airbag Connector *3 Connector Lock *4 Protective Tape - Using a screwdriver, release the 2 airbag connector locks.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- Disconnect the 2 airbag connectors to remove the steering pad assembly as shown in the illustration.NOTE:
When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
