Disassembly [12/2012 - ]: Procedure

  1. REMOVE CYLINDER BOOT 
    1. Using a screwdriver, pry out the set ring and boot.

      *a Protective Tape

      HINT: 

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

      NOTE:

      Be careful not to damage the rear disc brake piston and rear disc brake cylinder assembly.

  2. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE PISTON 
    1. Place a piece of cloth between the rear disc brake piston and rear disc brake cylinder assembly.

      *a Cloth
    2. Apply compressed air to remove the rear disc brake piston from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.
      WARNING:

      Do not place your fingers in front of the piston when using compressed air.

      NOTE:

      Be careful not to spatter the brake fluid.

  3. REMOVE PISTON SEAL 
    1. Using a screwdriver, remove the piston seal from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.

      *a Protective Tape

      HINT: 

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

      NOTE:

      Be careful not to damage the inner surface of the cylinder or piston seal groove.

  4. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE BLEEDER PLUG CAP 
  5. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE BLEEDER PLUG 
    1. Remove the rear disc brake bleeder plug from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.
