Inspection [12/2012 - ]: Procedure

  1. INSPECT OIL PUMP ASSEMBLY 
    1. Turn the drive gear with 2 screwdrivers and make sure that it rotates smoothly.

      NOTE:

      Be careful not to damage the oil seal lip.

  2. INSPECT CLEARANCE OF FRONT OIL PUMP BODY AND GEAR SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Inspect the body clearance.
      1. Push the driven gear to one side of the front oil pump body.

      2. Using a feeler gauge, measure the front oil pump body clearance.

        Standard clearance

        0.075 to 0.145 mm (0.00296 to 0.00570 in.)

        Maximum clearance

        0.145 mm (0.00570 in.)

        If the clearance is more than the maximum, replace the front oil pump drive gear, front oil pump driven gear or front oil pump body sub-assembly.

    2. Inspect the side clearance.
      1. Using a straightedge and feeler gauge, measure the side clearance of both gears.

        Standard side clearance

        0.025 to 0.040 mm (0.000985 to 0.00157 in.)

        Maximum side clearance

        0.040 mm (0.00157 in.)

        If the clearance is more than the maximum, replace the front oil pump drive gear, front oil pump driven gear or front oil pump body sub-assembly.

        HINT: 

        There are 5 different thicknesses for the front oil pump drive gear and front oil pump driven gear.

        2 11.555 to 11.563 mm (0.45493 to 0.45523 in.)
        3 11.564 to 11.571 mm (0.45528 to 0.45555 in.)
        4 11.572 to 11.579 mm (0.45559 to 0.45586 in.)
        5 11.580 to 11.587 mm (0.45591 to 0.45618 in.)
        DRIVEN GEAR THICKNESS

        1 11.547 to 11.555 mm (0.45461 to 0.45492 in.)
        2 11.555 to 11.563 mm (0.45493 to 0.45523 in.)
        3 11.564 to 11.571 mm (0.45528 to 0.45555 in.)
        4 11.572 to 11.579 mm (0.45559 to 0.45586 in.)
        5 11.580 to 11.587 mm (0.45591 to 0.45618 in.)
  3. INSPECT FRONT OIL PUMP BODY SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using a caliper gauge, measure the inside diameter of the front oil pump body bushing.

      Standard inside diameter

      43.135 to 43.160 mm (1.6983 to 1.6992 in.)

      Maximum inside diameter

      43.160 mm (1.6992 in.)

      If the inside diameter is more than the maximum, replace the front oil pump body sub-assembly.

  4. INSPECT STATOR SHAFT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using a caliper gauge, measure the inside diameter of the stator shaft bushing.

      Standard inside diameter

      22.500 to 22.526 mm (0.88583 to 0.88684 in.)

      Maximum inside diameter

      22.576 mm (0.88882 in.)

      If the inside diameter is more than the maximum, replace the stator shaft assembly.
