DTC B1642-81: Lost Communication with Side Satellite Sensor Bus RH; DTC B1647-82: Lost Communication with Side Satellite Sensor Bus LH [12/2012 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC 
    1. Turn the ignition switch to off.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    3. Check for DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [12/2012 - ] .

      Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Trouble Codes 

      Result Proceed to
      DTC B1642/81 is output
      DTC B1647/82 is output
      DTC B1642/81 and B1647/82 are not output

      HINT: 

      Codes other than DTC B1642/81 and B1647/82 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

    Result: 

    DTC B1647/82 is output

  2. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    3. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the airbag sensor assembly and rear airbag sensor RH.
      Result Proceed to
      The connectors are properly connected
      The connectors are not properly connected

    Result: 

    The connectors are not properly connected 

    CONNECT CONNECTORS PROPERLY 

    Result: 

    The connectors are properly connected

  3. CHECK CONNECTORS 
    1. Disconnect the connectors from the airbag sensor assembly and rear airbag sensor RH.
    2. Check that the connectors (on the airbag sensor assembly side and rear airbag sensor RH side) are not damaged.

  4. CHECK REAR AIRBAG SENSOR RH CIRCUIT 
    1. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      M7-4 (BCR+) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
      M7-3 (BCR-) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
    4. Turn the ignition switch off.
    5. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    6. Using a service wire, connect terminals 24 (BBR+) and 23 (BBR-) of connector B.
      NOTE:

      Do not forcibly insert the service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting a service wire.

    7. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      M7-4 (BCR+) - M7-3 (BCR-) Always Below 1 Ω
    8. Disconnect the service wire from connector B.
    9. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      M7-4 (BCR+) - M7-3 (BCR-) Always 1 MΩ or higher
      M7-4 (BCR+) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher

  5. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTOR 
    1. Check that the connector is properly connected to the door side airbag sensor RH.

  6. CHECK CONNECTOR 
    1. Disconnect the connector from the door side airbag sensor RH.
    2. Check that the connector (on the door side airbag sensor RH side) is not damaged.

  7. CHECK DOOR SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR RH CIRCUIT 
    1. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      M7-2 (BDR-) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
    4. Turn the ignition switch off.
    5. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    6. Using a service wire, connect terminals 2 (BDR+) and 1 (BDR-) of connector E.
      NOTE:

      Do not forcibly insert the service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting a service wire.

    7. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      M7-1 (BDR+) - M7-2 (BDR-) Always Below 1 Ω
    8. Disconnect the service wire from connector E.
    9. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  8. CHECK REAR AIRBAG SENSOR RH 
    1. Connect the connectors to the airbag sensor assembly and door side airbag sensor RH.

      *1 Rear Airbag Sensor LH
      *2 Airbag Sensor Assembly
    2. Interchange the rear airbag sensor RH with LH and connect the connectors to them.
    3. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    4. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    5. Clear the DTCs stored in memory.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [12/2012 - ] .

      Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Clear DTCs 

    6. Turn the ignition switch off.
    7. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    8. Check for DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [12/2012 - ] .

      Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Trouble Codes 

      Result Proceed to
      DTC B1647/82 is output
      DTC B1642/81 is output
      DTC B1642/81 and B1647/82 are not output

      HINT: 

      Codes other than DTC B1642/81 and B1647/82 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

    9. Turn the ignition switch off.
    10. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    11. Return the rear airbag sensor LH and RH to their original positions and connect the connectors to them.

    Result: 

    DTC B1647/82 is output 

    REPLACE REAR AIRBAG SENSOR RH. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2012 - 10/2015]  or  REMOVAL [10/2015 - ]  . 

    Result: 

    DTC B1642/81 is output

  9. CHECK FLOOR WIRE 
    1. Disconnect the floor wire connector from the front door wire RH.

    2. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      M7-1 (BDR+) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
      M7-2 (BDR-) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
    5. Turn the ignition switch off.
    6. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    7. Using a service wire, connect terminals 2 (BDR+) and 1 (BDR-) of connector C.
      NOTE:

      Do not forcibly insert the service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting a service wire.

    8. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      M7-1 (BDR+) - M7-2 (BDR-) Always Below 1 Ω
    9. Disconnect the service wire from connector C.
    10. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    REPLACE FRONT DOOR WIRE RH. Refer to  DISASSEMBLY [12/2012 - ]  .

    REPLACE FLOOR WIRE 

  10. CHECK DOOR SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR RH 
    1. Interchange the door side airbag sensor RH with LH and connect the connectors to them.

      *1 Door Side Airbag Sensor LH
      *2 Rear Airbag Sensor RH
    2. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    4. Clear the DTCs stored in memory.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [12/2012 - ] .

      Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Clear DTCs 

    5. Turn the ignition switch off.
    6. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    7. Check for DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [12/2012 - ] .

      Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Trouble Codes 

      Result Proceed to
      DTC B1647/82 is output
      DTC B1642/81 is output
      DTC B1642/81 and B1647/82 are not output

      HINT:

    8. Turn the ignition switch off.
    9. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    10. Return the door side airbag sensor LH and RH to their original positions and connect the connectors to them.

    Result: 

    DTC B1647/82 is output 

    REPLACE DOOR SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR RH. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2012 - ]  . 

    Result: 

    DTC B1642/81 is output 

    REPLACE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2012 - ]  . 

    Result: 

    DTC B1642/81 and B1647/82 are not output 

    USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK. Refer to  DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [12/2012 - ]  . 

  11. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    3. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the airbag sensor assembly and rear airbag sensor LH.
      Result Proceed to
      The connectors are properly connected
      The connectors are not properly connected

    Result: 

    The connectors are not properly connected 

    CONNECT CONNECTORS PROPERLY

  12. CHECK CONNECTORS 
    1. Disconnect the connectors from the airbag sensor assembly, rear airbag sensor LH and door side airbag sensor LH.
    2. Check that the connectors (on the airbag sensor assembly side and rear airbag sensor LH side) are not damaged.

    6. Using a service wire, connect terminals 17 (BBL+) and 18 (BBL-) of connector B.
      NOTE:

      Do not forcibly insert the service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting a service wire.

    7. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  17. CHECK REAR AIRBAG SENSOR LH 
    1. Connect the connectors to the airbag sensor assembly and door side airbag sensor LH.

    2. Interchange the rear airbag sensor LH with RH and connect the connectors to them.
    3. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    4. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    5. Clear the DTCs stored in memory.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [12/2012 - ] .

      Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Clear DTCs 

    6. Turn the ignition switch off.
    7. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    8. Check for DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [12/2012 - ] .

      Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Trouble Codes 

      Result Proceed to
      DTC B1642/81 is output
      DTC B1647/82 is output
      DTC B1642/81 and B1647/82 are not output

      HINT:

    9. Turn the ignition switch off.
    10. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    11. Return the rear airbag sensor RH and LH to their original positions and connect the connectors to them.

    Result: 

    DTC B1642/81 is output 

    REPLACE REAR AIRBAG SENSOR LH. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2012 - 10/2015]  or  REMOVAL [10/2015 - ]  . 

    Result: 

    DTC B1647/82 is output

  18. CHECK NO. 2 FLOOR WIRE 
    1. Disconnect the No. 2 floor wire connector from the front door wire LH.

    1. Interchange the door side airbag sensor LH with RH and connect the connectors to them.

    2. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

      Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Trouble Codes 

    5. Turn the ignition switch off.
    6. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    7. Check for DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [12/2012 - ] .

      DTC B1642/81 is output
      DTC B1647/82 is output
      DTC B1642/81 and B1647/82 are not output

      HINT: 

      Codes other than DTC B1642/81 and B1647/82 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

    8. Turn the ignition switch off.
    9. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    10. Return the door side airbag sensor RH and LH to their original positions and connect the connectors to them.

    Result: 

    DTC B1642/81 is output 

    REPLACE DOOR SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR LH. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2012 - ]  . 

    Result: 

    DTC B1647/82 is output 

    REPLACE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2012 - ]  . 

    Result: 

    DTC B1642/81 and B1647/82 are not output 

    USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK. Refer to  DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [12/2012 - ]  .
