DTC B1617-84: Lost Communication with Front Airbag Sensor LH; DTC B1618-84: Front Airbag Sensor LH Initialization Incomplete [12/2012 - ]: Procedure
- CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS
- Turn the ignition switch off.
- Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
- Check that the connectors are properly connected to the airbag sensor assembly and front airbag sensor LH.

- CHECK CONNECTORS
- Disconnect the connectors from the airbag sensor assembly and front airbag sensor LH.

- CHECK FRONT AIRBAG SENSOR LH CIRCUIT
- Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

Do not forcibly insert the service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting a service wire.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

- Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
- CHECK FRONT AIRBAG SENSOR LH
- Connect the connectors to the airbag sensor assembly.
*1 Front Airbag Sensor RH *2 Airbag Sensor Assembly - Interchange the front airbag sensor LH with RH and connect the connectors to them.
- Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
- Clear the DTCs stored in memory.
Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [12/2012 - ] .
Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Clear DTCs
- Turn the ignition switch off.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
- Check for DTCs.

Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Trouble Codes
Result Proceed to DTC B1617/84 or B1618/84 is output DTC B1612/83 or B1613/83 is output DTC B1612/83, B1613/83, B1617/84 and B1618/84 are not output HINT:
Codes other than DTC B1612/83, B1613/83, B1617/84 and B1618/84 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.
- Turn the ignition switch off.
- Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
- Return the front airbag sensor RH and LH to their original positions and connect the connectors to them.
Result:
DTC B1617/84 or B1618/84 is output
REPLACE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to REMOVAL [12/2012 - ] .

DTC B1612/83 or B1613/83 is output
REPLACE FRONT AIRBAG SENSOR LH. Refer to REMOVAL [12/2012 - 10/2015] or REMOVAL [10/2015 - ] .

DTC B1612/83, B1613/83, B1617/84 and B1618/84 are not output
USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK. Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [12/2012 - ] .
- Connect the connectors to the airbag sensor assembly.
- CHECK INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE
- Disconnect the instrument panel wire connector from the engine room main wire.
