Brake Hold Standby Indicator Light Circuit [04/2018 - 08/2021]: Procedure

  1. PRE-CHECK 
    1. If the brake hold standby indicator light does not illuminate even though the brake hold switch (electric parking brake switch assembly) is pushed, check that the brake hold function operation conditions are met.
      1. The driver door is closed.
      2. The driver seat belt is fastened.
      3. The system is normal.

      Result

  2. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM 
    1. Check if CAN communication system DTCs are output.

      Refer to HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [04/2018 -]

      DTCs are output B

    Result: 

    CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [04/2018 -]

  3. CHECK IF BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY CONNECTOR IS SECURELY CONNECTED 
    1. Check if the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector is securely connected.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

      Result

      Proceed to

      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    CONNECT CONNECTOR TO BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY CORRECTLY 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Turn the engine switch off.
    2. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Active Test.
    3. Perform the Active Test of the combination meter assembly using the Techstream.

      Body Electrical > Combination Meter > Active Test 

      Tester Display
      Brake Hold Indicator
    4. Check the combination meter assembly.

      OK

      The brake hold standby indicator light turns on or off in accordance with the Techstream operation.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    INSPECT METER / GAUGE SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [04/2018 -]

  5. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (BRAKE HOLD STANDBY INDICATOR LIGHT) 
    1. Enter the following menus: Chassis / ABS/VSC/TRAC/EPB / Active Test.

      Chassis > ABS/VSC/TRAC/EPB > Active Test

    2. Check the operating condition of the brake hold standby indicator light when operating it using the Techstream.

    Result: 

    REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [04/2018 - 08/2020]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2020 - 08/2021]

  6. INSPECT ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Turn the engine switch off.

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Brake Hold Switch (Electric Parking Brake Switch Assembly))
    2. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connector.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    3. Disconnect the G24 brake hold switch (electric parking brake switch assembly) connector.
    4. Check both the connector case and the terminal for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      8 (+B) - 16 (GND1) Switch pushed Below 1 Ω
      8 (+B) - 16 (GND1) Switch not pushed 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:

    REPLACE ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE SWITCH ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [04/2018 -]

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY - ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE SWITCH ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connector.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    2. Disconnect the A28 skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.
    3. Check both the connector case and the terminal for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A28-43 (HZRI) - G24-8 (+B) Always Below 1 Ω
      A28-43 (HZRI) or G24-8 (+B) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      G24-16 (GND1) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [04/2018 - 08/2020]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2020 - 08/2021]

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
