Bleeding [06/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. BLEED BRAKE LINE 
    1. Remove the center No. 1 cowl top ventilator louver.
      1. Disengage the clip.

        Remove in this Direction (1)
        Remove in this Direction (2)
      2. Pull in the direction indicated by the arrow (1) shown in the illustration, and disengage the 2 claws.
      3. Pull up in the direction indicated by the arrow (2) shown in the illustration, and separate the hood to cowl top seal.
      4. Pull up in the direction indicated by the arrow (1) shown in the illustration, and disengage the 2 claws.

      5. Pull in the direction indicated by the arrow (2) shown in the illustration, disengage the 2 guides and remove the center No. 1 cowl top ventilator louver.
    2. Bleed brake line.
      1. Remove the brake master cylinder reservoir filler cap assembly.
      2. Add brake fluid to keep the level between the MIN and MAX lines of the reservoir.

        Brake fluid

        SAE J1703 or FMVSS No. 116 DOT 3

      3. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3 and turn the power switch on (IG).
      4. Turn the Techstream on and enter the following menus: Chassis / ABS/VSC/TRC / Utility / Air Bleeding.

        Chassis > ABS/VSC/TRAC > Utility 

        Tester Display
        Air Bleeding
      5. Select "Usual air bleeding", and bleed air from the brake fluid following the instructions on the Techstream.
      6. After air bleeding, tighten each bleeder plug.

        Torque: 8.3 N*m (85 kgf*cm, 73 in.*lbf) 

      7. Clear the DTCs.

        Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [06/2015 - ]

      8. Turn the Techstream off and turn the power switch off.
    3. Inspect for brake fluid leaks.
    4. Install the brake master cylinder reservoir filler cap assembly.
    5. Install the center No. 1 cowl top ventilator louver.
      1. Push in the direction indicated by the arrow (1) shown in the illustration, and engage the 2 guides.

      2. Push in the direction indicated by the arrow (2) shown in the illustration, engage the 2 claws to install the center No. 1 cowl top ventilator louver.
      3. Pull in the direction indicated by the arrow (1) shown in the illustration, and engage the 2 claws.

        Install in this Direction
      4. Engage the clip.
  2. BLEED BRAKE SYSTEM 
    1. Remove the windshield wiper motor and link assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [06/2015 - ]

    2. Remove the No. 2 heater air duct splash shield seal.

    3. Remove the water guard plate LH.

      See step  9 [06/2015 - 11/2018], or see step  9 [11/2018 - ]

    4. Remove the cowl body mounting reinforcement RH.

      See step  10 [06/2015 - 11/2018], or see step  10 [11/2018 - ]

    5. Remove the outer cowl top panel sub-assembly.

      See step  11 [06/2015 - 11/2018], or see step  11 [11/2018 - ]

    6. Wait at least 2 minutes with the power switch off, and disconnect the reservoir level switch connector.
      NOTE:

      Do not depress the brake pedal or open/close the doors until the reservoir level switch connector is disconnected.

      HINT: 

      This procedure is not required if the reservoir level switch connector has been disconnected.

    7. Bleed the brake system.
      1. Remove the brake master cylinder reservoir filler cap assembly.
      2. Add brake fluid to keep the level between the MIN and MAX lines of the reservoir.

        Brake fluid

        SAE J1703 or FMVSS No. 116 DOT 3

      3. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3 and turn the power switch on (IG).
      4. Turn the Techstream on and enter the following menus: Chassis / ABS/VSC/TRC / Utility / Air Bleeding.

        Chassis > ABS/VSC/TRC > Utility 

        Tester Display
        Air Bleeding
      5. Select "ABS actuator has been replaced", and bleed air from brake fluid following the instructions on the Techstream.
        NOTE:

        Before following the instructions on the Techstream to perform linear valve offset calibration, release the parking brake. When calibration is complete, immediately apply the parking brake.

      6. After air bleeding, tighten each bleeder plug.

        Front bleeder plug 

        Torque: 8.3 N*m (85 kgf*cm, 73 in.*lbf) 

        Rear bleeder plug 

        Torque: 8.3 N*m (85 kgf*cm, 73 in.*lbf) 

        Stroke simulator bleeder plug 

        Torque: 8.5 N*m (87 kgf*cm, 75 in.*lbf) 

        HINT: 

        The stroke simulator bleeder plug is positioned as shown in the illustration.

      7. Install the brake master cylinder reservoir filler cap assembly.
    8. Clear the DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [06/2015 - ]

    9. Turn the Techstream off and turn the power switch off.
    10. Inspect for brake fluid leaks.
    11. Install the outer cowl top panel sub-assembly.

    12. Install the cowl body mounting reinforcement RH.

    13. Install the water guard plate LH.

    14. Install the No. 2 heater air duct splash shield seal.

    15. Install the windshield wiper motor and link assembly.

      Refer to INSTALLATION [06/2015 - ]

    16. Turn the power switch on (IG)
    17. Clear the DTCs.
    18. Turn the Techstream off and turn the power switch off.
