DTC B1422: Compressor Lock Sensor Circuit [12/2013 - 11/2016]: Procedure

  1. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM 
    1. Using the Techstream, check if the CAN communication system is functioning normally.

      Refer to HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [12/2013 - 11/2016]

      CAN communication system DTCs are output B

    Result:  2

    GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [12/2013 - 11/2016]

  2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Disconnect the magnetic clutch assembly connector.
    2. Install SST to the connector on the magnetic clutch relay side.
      • SST: 09843-18040 
    3. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    4. Start the engine.
    5. Turn the Techstream on.
    6. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Air Conditioner / Active Test.

      Body Electrical > Air Conditioner > Active Test

      Magnetic Clutch Relay Air conditioning system operation OFF or ON -
    7. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 - Body ground
      • Engine is running
      • Active Test above is being performed
      11 to 14 V

      HINT: 

      When performing the Active Test, voltage between 11 and 14 V is output for approximately 3 seconds.

    GO TO AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR MAGNETIC CLUTCH CIRCUIT. Refer to  Air Conditioning Compressor Magnetic Clutch Circuit [12/2013 - 11/2016]

  3. INSPECT MAGNETIC CLUTCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect the magnetic clutch assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the C12 cooler compressor assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      3 (MG+) - Body ground 20°C (68°F) 3.8 to 4.2 Ω
    4. When connector terminal 3 (MG+) is connected to a positive (+) battery terminal, check that the following occurs: 1) the magnetic clutch operating sound can be heard, and 2) the magnetic clutch hub and rotor lock.

      OK

      1) The magnetic clutch assembly operating sound can be heard, and 2) the magnet clutch hub and rotor lock.

    REPLACE MAGNETIC CLUTCH ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2013 - 11/2016]

  4. INSPECT COOLER COMPRESSOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

    REPLACE COOLER COMPRESSOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2013 - 11/2016]

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COOLER COMPRESSOR ASSEMBLY - AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the F80 air conditioning amplifier assembly connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C12-1 (SSR+) - F80-8 (LOCK) Always Below 1 Ω
      C12-2 (SSR-) - F80-13 (SG-2) Always Below 1 Ω
      F80-8 (LOCK) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F80-13 (SG-2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
