Adjustment [11/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. DRAIN HYBRID TRANSAXLE FLUID 
    1. Using a 10 mm hexagon socket wrench, remove the filler plug and gasket from the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly.

    2. Using a 10 mm hexagon socket wrench, remove the drain plug and gasket from the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly and drain the hybrid transaxle fluid.

    3. Using a 10 mm hexagon socket wrench, install the drain plug and a new gasket to the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly.

      Torque: 39.2 N*m (400 kgf*cm, 29 ft.*lbf) 

    4. Using a 10 mm hexagon socket wrench, temporarily install the filler plug and gasket to the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly.

      HINT: 

      Reuse the old gasket as the filler plug will be removed again.

  2. ADD HYBRID TRANSAXLE FLUID 
    1. Using a 10 mm hexagon socket wrench, remove the filler plug and gasket from the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly.

    2. Add hybrid transaxle fluid until the hybrid transaxle fluid level is between 0 to 5 mm (0 to 0.197 in.) from the bottom lip of the filler plug opening.
      NOTE:
      • Use Toyota Genuine ATF WS.
      • Be sure to fully insert the filler nozzle into the filler plug opening.
      • Be sure to add hybrid transaxle fluid slowly. If hybrid transaxle fluid is added quickly, the hybrid transaxle fluid may hit internal parts and bounce back, resulting in hybrid transaxle fluid coming out of the filler plug opening.
      • Be sure to directly check that the hybrid transaxle fluid level is within the specified range.
      • An insufficient or excessive amount of hybrid transaxle fluid may damage the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly.
      • Make sure that the hybrid transaxle fluid temperature is 5°C (41°F) or more.

      Hybrid Transaxle Fluid Standard Capacity (for Reference)

      4.6 liters (4.9 US qts, 4.0 Imp. qts)

    3. Using a 10 mm hexagon socket wrench, temporarily install the filler plug and gasket to the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly.

      HINT: 

      Reuse the old gasket as the filler plug will be removed again.

    4. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3 and turn the power switch on (IG).
    5. Put the engine in inspection mode.

      Refer to INSPECTION MODE PROCEDURE [02/2014 - 11/2016] , or refer to INSPECTION MODE PROCEDURE [11/2016 - ]

    6. Idle the engine for one minute with the power switch on (READY).

      HINT: 

      The oil pump will operate to circulate hybrid transaxle fluid through the oil cooler system.

    7. Turn the power switch off.
    8. Using a 10 mm hexagon socket wrench, remove the filler plug and gasket from the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly.
    9. Add hybrid transaxle fluid until the hybrid transaxle fluid level is between 0 to 5 mm (0 to 0.197 in.) from the bottom lip of the filler plug opening.

      NOTE:
