Exhaust Heat RECIRCULATION System Circuit [11/2016 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY - TEMPERATURE SWITCH - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the F124 combination meter assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the P2 temperature switch connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F124-7 (TWS2) - P2-2 (TWS2) Always Below 1 Ω
      P2-1 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      F124-7 (TWS2) or P2-2 (TWS2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK 

    Go to next step 

  2. CHECK COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    2. Disconnect the P2 temperature switch connector.
    3. Check the water temperature receiver gauge in the combination meter assembly.
      Result Proceed to
      Water temperature receiver gauge needle jumps from normal value to HI side A
      Water temperature receiver gauge needle jumps to HI side and stays there even after the connector is disconnected B
      Water temperature receiver gauge needle does not move from normal value even after the connector is disconnected C

    Result: 

    PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE.  Refer to PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [11/2016 - ] .

    Result: 

    REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY.  Refer to REMOVAL [02/2014 - ] .

    Result: 

    Go to next step 

  3. REPLACE TEMPERATURE SWITCH 
    1. Replace the temperature switch.

      Refer to REMOVAL [11/2016 - ] .

    Result: 

    Go to next step 

  4. CHECK COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    2. Disconnect the P2 temperature switch connector.
    3. Check the water temperature receiver gauge in the combination meter assembly.
      Result Proceed to
      Water temperature receiver gauge needle jumps from normal value to HI side A
      Water temperature receiver gauge needle jumps to HI side and stays there even after the connector is disconnected B

    Result: 

    END 

    Result: 

    REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY.  Refer to REMOVAL [02/2014 - ] .
