Steering Angle Sensor Communication Stop Mode [12/2013 - 11/2016]: Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR OPEN IN CAN BUS LINES (STEERING SENSOR BRANCH LINE) 
    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
    2. Disconnect the F58 steering sensor connector.

      (to Steering Sensor)
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F58-3 (CANH) - F58-2 (CANL) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 54 to 69 Ω

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE CAN BRANCH LINE OR CONNECTOR (STEERING SENSOR) 

    Result: 

    OK

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      (to Steering Sensor)

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F58-1 (ESS) - Body ground Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal Below 1 Ω
    2. Reconnect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F58-4 (IG1) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
      F58-5 (BAT) - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V

      (to Steering Sensor)

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE STEERING SENSOR. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2013 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT)
