DTC B15C3: Speaker Output Short [12/2013 - 11/2016]: Procedure

  1. CONFIRM MODEL 
    1. Choose the model to be inspected.

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the F35 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector.
    2. Disconnect the G1 front No. 2 speaker assembly RH connector.
    3. Measure the resistance between the DCM (telematics transceiver) and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F35-5 (SPO+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F35-6 (SPO-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:  2

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result:  1

    OK

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO AND DISPLAY RECEIVER ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the F69 and F70 radio and display receiver assembly connectors.
    2. Disconnect the G1 and G5 front No. 2 speaker assembly connectors (w/o Manual (SOS) Switch).
    3. Disconnect the G5 front No. 2 speaker assembly LH connector (w/ Manual (SOS) Switch).
    4. Disconnect the K4 and J4 rear speaker assembly connectors.
    5. Measure the resistance between the radio and display receiver assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F69-1 (FR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F69-5 (FR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F69-2 (FL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F69-6 (FL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F70-1 (RR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F70-3 (RR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F70-2 (RL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F70-6 (RL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the H3 and I3 front No. 1 speaker assembly connectors.
    2. Disconnect the G1 and G5 front No. 2 speaker assembly connectors.
    3. Measure the resistance between each of the front No. 2 speaker assemblies and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G1-3 (+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      G1-1 (-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      G5-3 (+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      G5-1 (-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      NG

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  5. INSPECT FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the front No. 1 speaker assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [12/2013 - ]

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      (Front No. 1 Speaker Assembly)

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 2 Always 3.2 to 4.8 Ω

    REPLACE FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2013 - ]

  6. INSPECT FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the front No. 2 speaker assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [12/2013 - ]

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Front No. 2 Speaker Assembly)

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      4 (+) - 2 (-) Always 10 kΩ or higher
      3 (+) - 4 (+) Always Below 1 Ω
      1 (-) - 2 (-) Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      NG

    Result:  2

    NG 

    REPLACE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2013 - ]

  7. REPLACE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Replace the front No. 2 speaker assembly with a new or known good one.

      Refer to REMOVAL [12/2013 - ]

    2. Clear the DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [12/2013 - 11/2016]

      Body Electrical > Navigation System > Clear DTCs 

    3. Recheck for DTCs and check that no DTCs are output.

      Body Electrical > Navigation System > Trouble Codes 

      OK

      No DTCs are output.

      HINT: 

      • Connect all the connectors to the front No. 2 speaker assemblies that were disconnected.
      • When there is a possibility that either the right or left front No. 2 speaker assembly is defective, inspect by interchanging the right one with the left one.
      • Perform the above inspection on both the LH and RH side.

  8. INSPECT REAR SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the rear speaker assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [12/2013 - ]

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  9. INSPECT DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) 
    1. Remove the DCM (telematics transceiver).

      Refer to REMOVAL [12/2013 - 11/2016]

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      2 (SPI+) - 5 (SPO+) Always Below 1 Ω
      3 (SPI-) - 6 (SPO-) Always Below 1 Ω
      2 (SPI+) - 3 (SPI-) Always 10 kΩ or higher
      5 (SPO+) - 6 (SPO-) Always 10 kΩ or higher
      2 (SPI+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      3 (SPI-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
