Removal [12/2013 - 11/2016]: Procedure

  1. REMOVE INTAKE AIR SURGE TANK ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [12/2013 - 11/2016]

  2. SEPARATE WIRE HARNESS 
    1. for Bank 1:
      1. Disengage the wire harness clamp to separate the wire harness.

    2. for Bank 2:
      1. Disengage the 2 wire harness clamps to separate the wire harness.

  3. REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY (for Intake Side of Bank 1) 
    1. Disconnect the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly connector.

    2. Remove the bolt and camshaft timing oil control valve assembly from the cylinder head cover sub-assembly.
      NOTE:
      • Do not allow foreign matter to contact the oil seal face of the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly (connecting surface with the cylinder head cover sub-assembly).
      • If the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly has been struck or dropped, replace it.
    3. Remove the O-ring from the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly.

  4. REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY (for Exhaust Side of Bank 1) 
    1. Disconnect the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly connector.

    2. Remove the bolt and camshaft timing oil control valve assembly from the cylinder head cover sub-assembly.
      NOTE:
      • Do not allow foreign matter to contact the oil seal face of the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly (connecting surface with the cylinder head cover sub-assembly).
      • If the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly has been struck or dropped, replace it.
    3. Remove the O-ring from the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly.

  5. REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY (for Intake Side of Bank 2) 
    1. Disconnect the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly connector.

    2. Remove the bolt and camshaft timing oil control valve assembly from the cylinder head cover sub-assembly LH.
      NOTE:
      • Do not allow foreign matter to contact the oil seal face of the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly (connecting surface with the cylinder head cover sub-assembly LH).
      • If the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly has been struck or dropped, replace it.
    3. Remove the O-ring from the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly.

  6. REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY (for Exhaust Side of Bank 2) 
    1. Remove the bolt and wire harness clamp bracket from the cylinder head cover sub-assembly LH.

    2. Disconnect the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly connector.
    3. Remove the bolt and camshaft timing oil control valve assembly from the cylinder head cover sub-assembly LH.
      NOTE:
      • Do not allow foreign matter to contact the oil seal face of the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly (connecting surface with the cylinder head cover sub-assembly LH).
      • If the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly has been struck or dropped, replace it.
    4. Remove the O-ring from the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly.
