DTC U0235: Lost Communication with Cruise Control Front Distance Range Sensor; DTC U1104: Lost Communication with Driving Support ECU [02/2014 - 11/2016]: Procedure

  1. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM 
    1. Using the Techstream, check if the CAN communication system is functioning normally.

      Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [02/2014 - 11/2016]

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      CAN communication is normal A
      CAN communication is malfunctioning B

    Result:  2

    GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [02/2014 - 11/2016] 

    Result:  1

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MILLIMETER WAVE RADAR SENSOR ASSEMBLY POWER SOURCE) 
    1. Disconnect the A3 millimeter wave radar sensor assembly connector.

      (to Millimeter Wave Radar Sensor Assembly)
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A3-5 (IGB) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      A3-5 (IGB) - Body ground Power switch off Below 1 V
    3. Reconnect the A3 millimeter wave radar sensor assembly connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:  2

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result:  1

    OK

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MILLIMETER WAVE RADAR SENSOR ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the A3 millimeter wave radar sensor assembly connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A3-1 (SGND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Reconnect the A3 millimeter wave radar sensor assembly connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:  2

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (MILLIMETER WAVE RADAR SENSOR ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND) 

    Result:  1

    OK

  4. CHECK DRIVING SUPPORT ECU ASSEMBLY (B VOLTAGE) 
    1. Disconnect the F84 driving support ECU assembly connector.

      (to Driving Support ECU Assembly)
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F84-30 (B) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      F84-30 (B) - Body ground Power switch off Below 1 V
    3. Reconnect the F84 driving support ECU assembly connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:  2

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT 

    Result:  1

    OK

  5. REPLACE MILLIMETER WAVE RADAR SENSOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Replace the millimeter wave radar sensor assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [02/2014 - 11/2016]

    NEXT 

  6. ADJUST MILLIMETER WAVE RADAR SENSOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Perform millimeter wave radar sensor assembly adjustment.

      Refer to ADJUSTMENT [02/2014 - 11/2016]

    NEXT 

  7. CHECK FOR DTC (PRE-COLLISION 2) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Clear the DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [02/2014 - 11/2016]

    4. Make sure that the DTC detection conditions are met.

      HINT: 

      If the detection conditions are not met, the system cannot detect the malfunction.

    5. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Pre-Collision 2 / Trouble Codes.
    6. Check for DTCs.

      Body Electrical > Pre-Collision 2 > Trouble Codes 

      NOTE:

      When replacing the driving support ECU assembly, always replace it with a new one. If a driving support ECU assembly which was installed to another vehicle is used, the information stored in the driving support ECU assembly will not match the information from the vehicle. As a result, a DTC may be stored.

      Result

      DTC U0235 and U1104 are not output A
      DTC U0235 or U1104 is output B
    7. Turn the power switch off.

    Result:  1

    END (MILLIMETER WAVE RADAR SENSOR ASSEMBLY WAS DEFECTIVE) 

    Result:  2
